I have started getting occasional timeouts with Geekzone. These occur when I try to post something or give a +1. Either it says the connection timed out or GZ down for maintenance. If I reload GZ in another tab, it works normally but the tab where I am trying to post continues to circle. This doesn't happen every time but it happens often enough. Not complaining, just pointing it out.

Yes, following this and might have changed something now to make it better.

I've noticed the same thing occasionally with the +1 over the last few days, but didn't think much of it.

Thanks for your reports. I have changed some settings and you might even have noticed we had a two-minute downtime while I restarted servers.

I have tweaked a bit more and now running a database trace to uncover any other underlying/invisible issue that might need work on.

I have increased webserver workers for the moment.

I don't know if this will work here and I am certain @freitasm is onto it. I just want to share, when I was Administrator for a large Linux forum we would run into lag issues at peak times especially at the time of a new release. What was found to reduce these peak time response issue was to turn off analytics temporarily. If it got very bad we would turn off new post indicators. You don't seem to have who is logged on indicators at least not public facing but we also found that having these turned on added quite a bit of overhead.

Just some thoughts.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Thanks... Some of these apply but most of these are cached and manageable.

And yes, we do have "logged on indicators" - that's the green and empty dots after a username:

We  had a logged on list that showed all the members who were logged on at any given time. This was visible to both the public and staff. That is not the case here but we found if we even kept that turned on for just Admins and Moderators that caused overhead.
