I was unable to access Geekzone for a roughly a couple of hours ending approx 9pm. I also checked via a couple of US web proxy services.

Yes, I wanted to expand the drives, change some memory settings... And wanted to do it before the big Apple rush tomorrow.

Yes, it takes a bit of time to load all the database caches. Sometimes even a few hours, depending on what is being read.

Once it's all loaded, pretty much the system runs out of the caches, only going to disk for writes.

Also you should notice pages a bit faster anyway, since we removed the chartbeat tracking code this week.

A bit silly to do it without warning considering the yellow banner across the top of the page. :)

It's all lies and conspiracy.  freitasm had too many beers, unplugged everything then passed out.  Geekzone only came back up again when Bella rolled her dad over and turned Geekzone back on again.

True story.

The "lies" part is the "big Apple rush"... With such crap announcement as the iPhone 4S we didn't have the 200% jump in traffic we had last year. No even a trace of difference, I tell you.
