I had GZ whitelisted in ABP and Ghostery, and was both seeing ads and had the quick reply box.

It is still whitelisted in ABP and Ghostery (I have just checked). However, while I am no longer getting the banner at the top of the page asking me to whitelist the site, I have lost the quick reply box and get the message "Please whitelist Geekzone in your adblocker to show the Quick Reply box here" at the bottom of the page.

Also, I am also mostly still getting the ads. But also a few boxes that are clearly intended for ads, but which have a lot of code text in them instead. "!doctype html> html> head> /head> body leftMargin "0" topMargin "0" marginwidth "0" marginheight "0"> script> function ){var g this,l function a,b) [....]" being a recent example.

Ok, the quick reply box is a false positive and can quickly remove that.

As for the HTML showing up in the ad spaces I guess you might have have other stuff causing this. Perhaps a hosts file list or something else that is blocking those to load.

Or it could be that ABP or Gloster have problems with whitelists too.

That adblocker thing seems to be back again on every page. Using Chrome. It disappears when I log in which is good, but it really puts you off if you pop over to GZ without being logged in. When it gave a one line message at the bottom of the page, that was fine.

I'm still seeing the white banner across the bottom of (maybe) 1 in 10 pages as a false positive. Quick reply box is fine (using it now...).

I use Adblock Plus for iOS on my iPad with www.geekzone.co.nz in my whitelist and I still get the message at the bottom telling me I'm blocking GZ.

Just FYI

freitasm: There must be something really wrong with this FX build. I have lots of tab open, use an Intel Core M laptop, no ad blocking (for no site at all) and CPU is really not even moving above 10—15%.

FX 48.0 released today - don't know if this has any impact?

I'm not using an adblocker at all, I'm on plain vanilla IE11 and I regularly get the prompt that I'm not allowed the quick reply option, and today I'm getting:

It looks like you're using an adblocker. Geekzone relies on ads to keep our content and forums free. Please support the Geekzone community by whitelisting us. The forum auto refresh will resume once Geekzone is whitelisted. Thank you!

I'm getting quick reply disabled (except in this specific forum) and a message to whitelist Geekzone despite using Edge, which doesn't even support plugins (so no ad blocking, obviously).

Another false positive I'm afraid.

Are you in Australia or using a VPN? Not blocking servers at hosts file or using a DNS service that blocks those?

I am indeed physically in Australia, and not using a VPN or hosts file.

Interestingly it's inconsistent, last time it did display the quick reply box but this time it refused to.

Perhaps your ISP is blocking something then? Clear the cookies in your machine or open an Incognito browser and try then.

Ok, in an incognito window, I reloaded this page three times. First two refreshes, the Quick Reply box displayed. The third time, it did not and informed me I had an ad-blocker.

I wonder if it's related to how the browser window locks up for 5-7 seconds while rendering the advertisements, potentially meaning whatever method you use to set that ads are displaying isn't getting to run 100% of the time.

Behind a work controlled proxy, which has Mail Marshal configured to block *some advert websites* (I am not sure if the list is maintained, and if it is, who by)

However as part of the IT Team, I can add myself into groups to allow access to the internet without being blocked by any of the other rules (including adverts)

So when I browse Geekzone I have ton's of adverts all over the show, which I don't mind as I know their purpose.

As I always do, I open multiple tabs - forum subsections and topics I am interested in reading. Most windows allowed me to quick reply, aside from one

This thread seems to mention an increasing number of false positives, so this might be another one.

On home PC this time, no ad blockers, don't block cookies etc.  Only just come up in the past few days.
