Where did you see it? I could not find it from Vodafone's website.

You need to click on the "Already got a tablet" tab. Only appears to be for iPads? Wouldn't work on my Vodem :(

not sure why a company would release device specific plans, sounds confusing and pointless to me

Because different devices use the network differently, and are used differently, which impacts the cost to Vodafone of providing the data, therefore they charge differently.

Nauseatingly different devices use the network differently, and are used differently, which impacts the cost to Vodafone of providing the data, therefore they charge differently.

yeeeeeeeeeeah but like, they can do that with just having different data plans can't they? a 3gb plan, a 2gb plan, a 1gb plan or a 10gb plan if you're a data hog!

1gb on, say, a tablet will generate very different kinds of usage compared to 1gb on a dongle.

true, but i don't see how that makes a difference, 1gb used on a tablet is no bigger or smaller than 1gb used on a dongle :P

Tha amount of data isn't the ony thing that makes a difference to the cost. Type of traffic and time is also a factor.
1gb of streaming 1080p. video, used at 7pm is a hell of a lot more expensive than 1gb of emails slowly downloaded between 1am and 8am.

Not only that, but the way telcos work out the data plans is based on the actual amount of expected usage. So, for example, n average tablet user might on average only use 40% of their plan whereas a dongle user might use 80%. So, all else being equal, a tablet user only impact the network 50% as much as a dongle user, which means Vodafone can give tablet users twice the data and make the same amount of money. (Numbers are all made up of course, just to demonstrate the point)

It would be by IMEI. Having said that, I haven't read the terms and conditions but I'd be very surprised if the "for iPad" plans are actually enforced.
