Just had a Vodafone rep knock on door trying to get me onto their HFC network.

First thing he tries to tell me is that Fibre connections are/ or will slow down in your area.

Then asks if I've noticed any slow down, which I answered "no"

Then offers to do a free Vodafone upgrade at which point I said not interested and he went on his way.

Wonder how many people fall for the fibre is slowing down in your area story?

I don't know what happens when more of neighborhood joins up, (on Enable 32 houses share a connection?)  but if there was any slow down I would notice.

He was promoting the fibre max one which is probably a competitive price to the fibre gig one 900Mb/s?

Just sell a product on its merits. I'm still  wary of Vodafones past customer service for doing anything on account.

I can give street info etc to Vodafone person if it would help track down marketing company.

i guess in theory fibre could slow down if everyone on your split had gbit and maxed it all day everyday.. which would be unlikely.

How does Vodafone's HFC differ to their usual fibre plans? Is it some sort of new technology?

No, it's cable, their own network. They don't need to pay Chorus a connection fee so the pricing is different.

Ah, gotcha. I knew they had their own cable network but didn't know that's what they called it.
