When terminating a VF You Choose plan it is necessary to give one months notice. However when you port to another network it is done same day. What happens? Do you have to pay the month of your plan charges without being able to use them?

Alternatively, is it possible to port a number to another network without canceling your connection (ie, instead keep the connection you ported the number from, but with a new number)?

Sorry if the answers are found in a very obvious place - I would have thought these would have ready been asked, but I am going mad using search trying to find them.

When you port a number to another carrier the number has to be active on a connection at time of port. A port out request will automatically deactivate the connection number is on. The carrier you port to does not own that number they only borrow it while you remain their customer. 3O days notice not required. If number is under contract ETCs are charged.

Just to be clear, you are saying that the 30 day notice requirement for termination is waived when a number is ported from Vodafone (So you don't need to pay for those 30 days - I can't remember if in effect any days have been paid in advance but if they had been then these would be refunded)? All that needs to be paid is any ETC charges.

Also - is this correct - porting can only be done in conjunction with a new connection: you can't port to an existing connection?
