Hello,

I am sorry for not being on to it as most of you are here so i may make myself look like a fool by asking this question(s), but hey thats what these forums and that are for....

With the nokia n70 purchased on vf, ive heard that you cannot set vodalive downloaded mp3s as your ringtone...... that really doesnt bother me so much as why do we need to pay for them.. but...... can i send via bluetooth and set my own mp3s i have on my pc as ringtones on this handset???? Also does the vf network actually have restrictions where you cannot install software onto the handset?? otherwise im sure most would buy an import. Thanks very much for any replies :):):):):):):)

Anybody can answer that who´s using Nokia 6680 bought from Voda. They are the same from sw point of view.

And the answer is sad: no.
I tried to install a sw but it have said: security error and wont let you finish the installation.
And you cannot set any mp3´s as a ringtone, if I am right.

The best if you ask this in any Voda shop using the 6680 as an example.

Sigh...

You CAN install other programs, and you CAN set MP3's as ringtones (not ones d/led off VLive!)

To Install other programs you must change a setting in the settings menu. I forget the exact menu (its either Security Settings or Manager) but it is there and you CAN install other programs.

And the software on the N70 is different to that on the 6680. They are both Symbian, but different versions of.

As I said before, its not yet available so any answer to that question would be a guess at this stage sorry, usually though that IS the case with Nokia handsets.

Seems to work good tho i have noticed a while back on n70 i could pxt up to 300kb but now it sends and doesn't get through - i just wonder if Voda blocked anything over 100kb because it was working before.

Hey ya'all.

With regards to playing MP3 as ringtones on your N70. you shuold be able to.

With the 6680 I copied the mp3s into the memory card and put it into the right directory on your card. If you put it under Sound Clips or whereever the rest of your tones are stored it should then show up as an option for your ringtone.

This may be slightly different on the N70 but it's the same principle.

Did you buy your phone from Vodafone?

It's almost the 15th, if Voda stay true to their release date for the n70....don't hold your breath though.

Getting an honest answer from them is impossible. I'm sure there is probably a good reason why Voda have held back on the n70 but they really need to get that handset out as it will not even be the current new handset (oct 2005 - old).

I've had mine for a while now, so i do feel your frustration to the people who have been waiting for the Vodafone branded handsets. If it functions as it should, in my opinion it is worth it - great phone!.

that's a negative. But I dont think that the Vodafone version of the firmware would be such a big modification from the nonbranded phones. Usually, it's only the display and presentation plus a few settings which make the difference.

Besides which, since the N70 hasn't been released yet, if you have one it's unlikely to be VF branded anyway.
