Sorry for the delay, we've been waiting to hear confirmation that your orders have been shipped.   This is a completely new product that we haven't yet announced widely as we prepare to sell through a very large number of stores at the same time as another major new product launch.

However, the good news is we've just heard that all the online orders HAVE BEEN shipped and you should soon receive an email with tracking (if you haven't already).

I have the Gen1 tv box and might be interested to upgrade.

I phoned VF today but in there normal fashion I was transferred 3 times and ended up in Asia or India with a communication problem so hang up out of frustration and being on hold for quite a while.

A repeat phone call was also no help.

Maybe i can get help here. :)

Can I get an upgrade from a Gen 1 box to a Gen 2 box ?  (the hardware features is what I am after i.e. no wi-fi extenders)

I am half way through a 12 month term so will this work ?

I was also told that my box would perform a software upgrade some time soon, anyone know if this is correct ?

It is frustrating that I have to resort to these forums to get answers to my question, VF need to sort there call centers out, anyway that is another topic for a much longer discussion :(

Thanks

Nothing changed on my GEN1 device and I'm not expecting it too.... still waiting on an update from @samson and last statement from him was basically 'hold on, its coming'

As I understand it, Once the software upgrade for the GEN1 is available then the only difference will be that the GEN2 devices provide WiFi connection. If you have a GEN1 device today then you'll have everything (apart from WiFi connection) as the GEN2 but slightly cheaper.

Sure, nothing lasts forever and the GEN1 and GEN2 devices may be replaced by GEN3 or even GEN666 devices that plug into the back of your head for the ultimate visual experience.

Personally, I'll wait for the software upgrade on my GEN1 device and worry about the battery life of GEN666 device later.

Hi,

We've started the updates for Gen1 now, you should see new apps for Neon, Lighbox and a "coming soon" teaser app for Play Stuff on the Apps rail in the UI.

In terms of upgrading from Gen1 to Gen2, if you're already have Gen1 connected (using Ethernet or some other connectivity solution) there's no benefit going to Gen2.   However, we will look at developing a general upgrade offer if you need to change your VTV connectivity from Ethernet to Wi-Fi.

So in my case the box connects with Wi-Fi extenders.
Not a great solution as they need re setting every couple of weeks.
I presume the new gen 2 would resolve this issue ?
Thanks

We have announced that we are investing $10m in our call centers, including a significant investment in local agents.

Do you have 2 Kaon Wi-Fi extenders operating in bridge mode?  If so then try setting it up in station mode instead which may provide a more reliable Ethernet connection for your VTV.

Using Wi-Fi extenders in "bridge mode" can over-complicate things.  While this theoretically provides a better video bridge suitable for multicast/UDP IPTV streams, we don't plan to use multicast for VTV.

@beenz Let me know if you need any instructions on how to convert Wi-Fi extenders from bridge mode to station mode.

@sansom - any word on when the Gen666 ocular implant will be available to the public, or is this still in a closed Beta?

Is this for real ...why would anyone in there right mind want an implant and ocular refers to the eyes !!
This is one step to far for me or am I missing something here ?

Box just showed up, only took a few mins to get going.

First impressive feature I've found, the unit will play Netflix with Dolby Atmos soundtracks and thankfully my TV passes the Atmos signal to my soundbar. My apple TV may have a little less work to do now.

I thought this supported iheartradio? Can't see the app anywhere

Otherwise it works well on Spark Fibre 100 so far
