mexako ... so, you are not worried about data usage, just wifi speeds?

Remember that the Ultra Hub is both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, so maybe limit visitors to 2.4 and keep 5 for yourselves?

Also, THIS article may help you understand wifi speeds and how multiple users can affect it.

I signed up to the new Vodafone TV today and as part of the detail I think I'm being sent one of these routers with a couple of wifi extenders.

I'm currently using a Linksys WRT1900ACS on FibreX 200, is it worth putting this new router in or keep running the linksys? Of note the Linksys has been very reliable for me.

@Rickles

I am but I don't want to completely chuck them off the network. I see the flat mates friend is now here on her laptop and mobile. Wi-Fi both connected.

On the HG569 I could control their speeds which was great but this sh*tty Ultra hub you're so restricted to do anything.

I'm definitely not wanting to deal with Vodafone anymore. They've had a technician come by and all was fine. New router even was sent and still no better connection.

I have a PS4 and can't even game on my favourite good ol Battlefield 4 and 1 because of constant lag. Plus even streaming is an issue. This is all connected with LAN not Wi-Fi.

Think I could revert back to the HG569 so that I can control their speeds in QoS with FibreX?

No, I'm definitely worried about data usage as they are draining the internet and right now as I'm typing to you guys haha. I wanna pull my hair out. I can't even game or watch my shows anymore. I've even tested my speeds on all my devices. That's why I'd like to control these flat mates friends devices as they are thieving my data and hogging the net! lol

I'm getting these speeds when I test via speedtest.net

Samsung S8 (5 GHz)
------------------
PING 112ms
DOWNLOAD 29.58Mbps
UPLOAD 20.39Mbps

Laptop UP (wired)
-----------------
PING 11ms
DOWNLOAD 88.86Mbps
UPLOAD 21.00Mbps

PS4 (wired - without gaming)
----------------------------
PING 6ms
DOWNLOAD 26.31Mbps
UPLOAD 19.Mbps

PS4 (wired - gaming)
--------------------
PING 10ms
DOWNLOAD 10.44Mbps
UPLOAD 19.29Mbps (um) this sometimes hits higher than download for some strange reason.

These speeds are always changing as I do this on a daily routine to see what's cooking.

Please I really just want my net to be running fine without bloody lag all the time. And I miss my gaming

Thanks

I never had a HG569, but I wonder if you could connect it to the Ultrahub with an ethernet cable, and have two different SSIDs?
Change the HG569's own IP address to avoid the Ultrahub's, turn off DHCP, and make the channels different.
It might "just work"; I've repurposed my old TP-Link as an AP like this, but the TP-Link said it could work like that on the box when I bought it.

@jlittle

Yeah we upgraded from VDSL to this so called great FibreX. Hasn't improved at all. Just been getting issues tbh. So can't I just use the HG569 rather than the Ultrahub?

mexako ... leaving aside the wifi for the moment, the Fibrex200 should be giving you within a cooee 200mbps download figures using a direct cabled computer.

I myself got FibreX200 a few months ago and always hit the 200mbps mark plus or minus 5%.

Ergo, sounds like something is awry with either the feed itself, or a faulty cable modem/router combination. Logically this is best sorted by the supplier and their technicians, viz. Vodafone.

In that regard I have always had good responses using nzconsumer.support@vodafone.com  and  vodafonenz_customer_services@mailsy.custhelp.com

but failing that just keep telephoning and as previously advised get an Incident Report Number.

@Rickles

I run cable for both devices PS4 and laptop though.

I've been in communication with ninjas. They couldn't help me.

Technician also was sent here and apparently the line is fine.

I bought a new cable cat 6.

And sent out a new ultra hub as well.

So I'm not sure what else is going on here.

Thanks for those email addresses I'll try giving that a go.

So other than that can I not use the HG569 with FibreX? If not, can I not use software that will be able to control speeds for devices? Wi-Fi isn't really the issue here for me as I want to control speeds of certain devices being connected.

Thanks

PS  Maybe you should also check to ensure there is no 'channel crowding' ... meaning wifi interference from neighbours' wifi networks?

inSSIDer  and NetSpot  and WifiAnalyser will help ascertain situation.

@Rickles

Yes I've already got wifianalyzer but that doesn't help my situation as I've configured wifi channels. It's people (flat mates friends) hogging the net and even if they no around is around and when flat mates using net it's pretty shiiezah.

I'm cabled that's what my main and that's the issue I'm having with... not Wi-Fi.

Basically the FibreX isn't offering us the 200Mbbps.

I don't use Wi-Fi for my PS4 or laptop as it's terrible.

Can you run Ookla Speedtest (http://www.speedtest.net/) and post the result here?

 The actual result screen captured, not just the figures.

I think that the SpeedTest download figure says it all ...
