halper86: Is snow normal? Sometimes when I boot up the box the TV recognises that it is connected - with input and display res - but only displays snow. Have to power cycle VTV to get it back to normal.

Occassionally I have the same problem, although it might be with another STB device that I have.
Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable? This sorts the issue for me.

Yes I have, and swapped hdmi cords, and tried different TVs. I’m wondering if the surge protector is an issue

Mine does that very time it is powered up. It's the ONLY hi-res 4K picture you'll get out of the box!

This STB gets used infrequently & the network is removed (wifi). I suspect it does not like that (lonely).

Does YouTube or Netflix not work in 4K?

Because of ADSL only have basic Netflix package.

Never looked at YouTube. Their ads are worse than broadcast OTA?

When the STB displays "snow" on warm start, it appears to have crashed. It is also spitting out bursts of static over audio output. None of the buttons appear to do anything except stand-by.

Easiest soln is (warm start) power cycle.

I never get the audio, just the visual. But yes - the only button that works for me is the standby button.

Because you only have ADSL you might be pushing it to do 4K so I suggest going into settings, More Settings, Audi/Visual, and setting a Screen resolution of 1080P instead of 4K. Or otherwise upgrade to fibre broadband.

Also you can subscribe to a Premium You Tube subscription for $15 a month which does away with the ads.

@Halper86 , if I may..   Are you using the HDMI cable that came with the STB?  Also what make/model is your TV set?

By any chance are you trying to use an ARC (Audio Return Channel) configured HDMI Port. If so try another HDMI Port or turn off Viera Link for the HDMI Port.

When I try to watch tonight's S2020, E24 Fair Go on Catch up on TVNZ 1t displays Criminal Minds, or it shows there the error message "SB003 Sorry you are not subscribed to this channel."

You are not missing much IMHO, but I guess that's not the point. Was fine live (until we turned it off).

Nope, ARC channel is Port 2 - theatre system plugged into that. The STB is plugged into port 1 with Viera turned off. I use Optical Audio out if that makes a difference.

At 8:15AM this morning both my VTV boxes had problems connecting to the internet to view TV One and Channel 2, although I had no other problems with devices on my network.

This was a Kaltura issue.. resolved shortly afterwards.
