For me, the cutoff happens if I have switched to a program that's part way through, then selected "Restart". There's no cutoff if the menu offers "watch catch-up" instead of "restart".

Also, if I've been watching "live" and pressed pause, if it's still paused at the time the next programme starts it starts playing the next programme.

Older recorded programmes tend to disappear off the "recordings" list.

Occasionally, recordings which I've deleted get recorded again if they are repeated later in the month, even if they had no series link.

Apart from the above, I'm quite happy with the box.

Not sure if I'm on the same wavelength here but I'm with Rickles. Almost every evening we start The Chase at around 5:40 pm, re-start it and skip through the ads. That finishes around 6:15 and we go to One News, re-start and watch that skipping the ads. Very seldom have any problem.

The way it happens is we click [Restart] and keep watching - skipping ads or not.

The [Restart] will end a couple of minutes before the actual end of the program and it then goes back to live TV.

We then click [Restart] again on the current live TV program to see the last couple of minutes of the previous program, which streams just before the start of the live program.

Note this won't happen with [Catch up].

We never have that issue.

When restarting any show, we do sometimes see the last 30 secs of the prior programme but just fix that with a couple of "FF 20 secs". Other times we might miss the first few seconds of the start of The Chase.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Yep, and those last seconds are the bit cut off from the [Restart] on the previous program. Sometimes a bit longer.

Aha - see what you mean - but we have never missed the final few seconds or minutes of The Chase.

My Gen1 Vodafone TV box (originally had as part of a 12 months sign up deal) has finally decided to stop connecting to the internet.
After speaking with Vodafone support they have decided they are going to send a new replacement.

Perhaps someone here with more experience is able to help please, knowing how difficult it can be to get usual information from support sometimes.

- Is the new replacement Vodafone TV box going to be Gen 1 as well or Gen 2?

- Will this new Vodafone TV box only work on a Vodafone internet connection or any ISP?

Hard to know. I am not sure they still have stock and what is the replacement policy. Did you ask the help desk person when a replacement was offered?

The Vodafone TV Gen2 works with any ISP.

It’s likely it will be a Gen2. However it will only work as bundled on a Vodafone account.
It cannot be activated against vtv.nz (standalone)

So whilst you could use it on any isp connection, it will be tied to a Vodafone Account and cannot be sold.

Cheers

Series episodes incomplete

Greetings

We subscribe to Soho and have been watching White Lotus which is a 6 part series. As the program is unable to be recorded like many others we use the Watchlist - all the episodes appear in a list except in this instance episode 6 being the most important and finale of the series. This has happened before with other programs but it might not necessarily be the last episode - sometimes the first.

I have tried to address this issue via other channels

thanks db

Is this for all new units (retail included), only units sold through Vodafone or only VTV2 replacing VTV1?

Thank you very much.

Yes I did ask at the time but i got the 'what are you talking about' type of response.

Thank you, Grant. Sounds like you would need to keep your Vodafone account alive to be able to continue using VTV for on account which sounds fair.

I wonder how they differentiate that on account VTV box vs the standalone. Must be based on some sort of a hardware identifier.

Looking at getting one of these, but I've got to deal with some rather onerous network requirements (that unfortunately are beyond my control). Just wonder if it's possible to install a custom root CA on this? I assume probably not!

No UI for this kind of stuff. Why would you want to install your root CA? Want to modify the box in any way?

Basically I've got to deal with some rather strict network filtering requirements that include the installation of a root CA. It's an utterly ridiculous policy, but not one that I can change unfortunately. However, it's pretty understandable that they wouldn't want to allow that type of thing.

If the network does deep inspection and MITM then the box might not work unless some policies are changed, I'd say.
