A lot of people appear to be experiencing bugs with the product, but some of the programme recording problems would seem to be symptomatic of content not being catalogued accurately. This leads me to wonder if there is an ongoing cataloging cost or workload that Vodafone don't want to commit to.

I personally got rid of my VTV gen 2 a long time ago and never missed it. The Apple TV does everything I need with the only limitation being poor quality on the ThreeNow app, but I think Discovery are working on that.

Just cause you ask for something to be implemented does not mean they have to! Disney might not want Vodafone selling its service

Exactly! That's why I got rid of it!

@siva992 It was never advertised as having Disney+ to start with so you are telling me you purchased VTV hoping it would get something you wanted?

Obviously! It was marketed as "The One with your favourite apps and entertainment all in one place". It's not that difficult to ask around what the most used streaming apps are. Moreover, I bought this in mind with the cloud recording and it's catchup feature. The promise was 90% availability on recording, but that is slowly decreasing and often missing out the ability to record or catchup primetime shows on both Freeview and Sky Channels.

@siva992 Can't see Disney+ listed on installed apps so you have zero right to complain about it

I just did. And your argument about whether Disney+ was stated in their website or not, you wouldn't say the same thing to someone who asked for Prime Video, when Prime Video was not part of the pre-installed apps until early 2020.

Really no point arguing with you. You took 1 part of my message and blew it up 10 times. Just wasting my time with you.

I had a lot of timeshifting issues, recording, buggy messages out of nowhere like I'm not subscribed to the channel when it's just Freeview, unable to catch-up on past 3 days of programming where buttons are unresponsive. There's more to this, Vodafone claimed it was my internet connection not being fast enough, so I upgraded it from a 100/20 to a 900/500 UFB with Vodafone this time and they couldn't explain the issues.

The CSR you were talking to would have less clues as to the cause of problems than you do. You chose to take the advice. The device and service has certain idiosyncrasies but need to realize that IPTV solutions are complex.

Experiences reported here seem to be very mixed. Some people are very satisfied with it while others are reporting the types of glitches you describe.

Overall though, my impression is that it's too temperamental for the non technical audience that it's targeted at. I personally wouldn't be sorry to see it disappear from the market.

As for the units being out of the stock in the consumer channel, I have heard this from Vodafone: "with supply issues, we need all current stock for our existing customers. This means new Vodafone TV retail stock is in short supply."

So perhaps not a big conspiracy to retire the product - yet.

According to Sky's annual report 30K TBox users were migrated to them.

Sounds interesting. I'll definitely be taking a close look at that as soon as it's available.
