No they just charge us at some expensive rate! Wouldn't be so bad if it was $1 a GB or something but I think it's nearly $2.50 or something.

loganjames:
Ok $30 it is. Who was I kidding? Dial up for 10 days?

I was on dial up for a day and a half at the end of my last cycle and I swear it was nowhere near the 6o odd kbps I was supposed to be on. Web pages were timing out rather than loading slowly.

Anything 70GB or over I will be happy with as my flatmate has been using about 30GB a month even though he only pays me a set amount for bills which was supposed to only be for "casual/light usage"
Undecided

I have been holding back on downloading a bit [but not a lot] because I know we will go over so having a buffer preventing us going over would mean I don't have to sound like a d1ck about it as he is otherwise a decent flatmate after a couple of nightmare ones.

yeah the 64kbps cap is crazy, why not a 128k one instead? at least you could probably still surf..

Yah the 64K thing isn't accurate, the number of clients who get throttled down to "64K" and then can't do even the most basic of browsing is huge.

Agreed, it is almost a false claim.  I would accept a drop to 64K if I was actually getting it but in reality I am effectively losing the internet. Gmail mostly won't even load and as I said, a lot of times, pages simply time-out.

Agreed.. maybe we should put our feelings forward to Vodafone to see if they may change policy to upgrade it?

It's not just VF, all ISP's that throttle, users complain the same way. I think it's the method of throttling. It's like it builds up to 64K and then hits the limit and kills the connection.. Kind of like if you accelerated in your car to 60Kmph and then your cars engine turned off.

I'm pretty sure its done at the ISP level, as previously they used to drop your connection rate. Now they don't do that. they just throttle from the ISPs side, how much through-put you get. I bet they have more control over it then you think.

Yep, I'm also hoping VF increase the data caps. VF went from 30 to 45 then to 60, matching Telecom every time. I'm hoping that trend continues because I really do not want to go back to Telecom :)

Am surprised that vodafone has been lagging in terms of plan increases.

Would rather VF over any other ISP but cmon now! been doubling my data every month since ive been with vodafone.

Have experienced the same thing when i go over my cap. NO WAY is it 64kbps. I find its so bad that time outs are a regular occurence especially with hotmail and stuff.

Snaps new plans are pretty sweet,

Comparison:

Snap:
Phone + DSL 255GB w/ Caller ID and Wiring and Maintenance = 121.70 per month

Compared to my Current Vodafone Red Network Plan
Phone + DSL 120GB w/ Caller ID and Wiring and Maintenance = 127.00 per month

I'll give Vodafone a couple more weeks to do something before i jump ship on my personal connection first.

Wow that's more than double the amount of data Vodafone supply!

Here's hoping they hurry up and do something about this.

There seems to be a bit of an expectation that Vodafone will just change their data caps within a couple of hours of new plans being released. I would say that is a little bit unrealistic really. Big corporate are a lot of things but super nimble isn't really one of them.

Based on a track record I would expect them to meet or slightly beat the market but saying they're lagging isn't really fair (their data caps at the start of last week were as high, or higher, than most). A couple of weeks is a more reasonable expectation I would have thought.

does anyone here actually expect that? hours?  i doubt it.

there is nothing wrong discussing vodafone's data caps compared to the competition. this is a forum to do such things.
