The press release:
Today Vodafone unveiled a new range of On Account mobile plans packed with more data than ever before – giving customers the freedom to use their mobile data however they like, with no strings attached.
The bigger data bundles come with no usage limitations, meaning customers are free to create mobile hotspots and tether to other devices, regardless of whether they are at home or on the move.
Vodafone’s new Red+ Essentials $79.99 monthly On Account plan now comes with a whopping 22GB data bundle that customers can use to stream, browse and connect freely over NZ’s fastest mobile network according to independent testing by Ookla.
For those who don’t need quite so much data, we’ve upped our Red+ Lite plan to include 10GB of data (up from 4GB) for just $59.99 per month.
“We believe in letting our customers use their monthly data however they like, whenever they want and always at the highest possible speeds,” said Vodafone Consumer Director, Matt Williams.
“We know that sharing devices and hotspots makes life easier and now we’re offering all Kiwis heaps more data to do whatever they want with no strings attached on New Zealand’s fastest mobile network.”
For the super value conscious, Vodafone’s Advantage Lite plan now comes with 2.5GB of mobile data (up from 1GB) for just $39.99 per month.
Customers who opt into to one of the new plans are also free to share their data allowance with other devices and with their family members, using Vodafone’s hugely popular ‘Red Share’ and ‘Tablet Share’ add-ons.
Matt adds, “We have invested heavily in our network, including getting super-fast 4G to more than 95 percent of the places where kiwis live and work, to make sure we can keep pace with the way Kiwis want and need to stay reliably connected.
“We are thrilled to unleash these new plans because we know our network can manage all the tethering our customers can throw at it, and we absolutely encourage them to make the most of what they’ve signed up for,” he said.

What discount?
I'm on Advantage lite and I don't get offered a discount to change.

It's amusing to see the press release having a dig at Spark's 'no tethering' rule, and probably fair enough!

Did you enter your number in the box? https://www.vodafone.co.nz/shop/planOffers.jsp
Entering my prepay SIM number gave me a discount too.
Yep... must only be a discount applied if going from pre-paid. I wonder how long you need to be on prepaid for? given I am on an open term plan there is nothing stopping me going to prepaid for a month and then to one of the new plans to gain a discount.

Spark offering is different again so why would they need to?
Linux
Because their datacaps are a bit lacking compared to the competition now
I'd happily forego the free wifi and lightbox I never use for a $80 plan with 23gb datacap (that allows tethering)

To be fair, I would like to know a bit more about what Vodafone means by "X more data limited time offer".
nas:
Yeah, I just noticed that the plan page has changed from the initial screenshot that was posted on the first page
Doesn't tell you when the "bonus" data ends
That is different again from this morning after the 1gig bonus data when. This morning it did not have anything like "limited time offer"
This morning it was "More monthly data from 4GB to 10GB"
Anyone know how long the tablet share is free for? Sign up by 30 sept and then is it free forever (like the old Spark $0 socialiser) or only for x months? Can't seem to find any info on it.
