@graham007:
i wanted to check would it be good for streaming youtube, netflix spotify and decent enough quality.
4GB is about five TV episodes in HD quality. Or about two movies. After this, not so much.

Props to Vodafone for dropping the Forced SD mode stuff that they had put into their last Unlimited Prop.
That was one of the larger show stoppers IMO.
do you think after the allocated data, the speed is ok enough ? it makes it kinda up in the air as bulk of the customers wont be aware what to expect !
Here are the recommended speeds from Netflix themselves:

Here are the recommended speeds from Netflix themselves:
- 0.5 Mbps for any streaming
- 3 Mbps for SD or DVD quality
- 5 Mbps for HD quality
- 25 Mbps for Ultra HD/4K quality
We are still waiting on VF to confirm whether the throttle is 1.2Mbs or 1.2MBs (12Mbs)- I'm guessing its the former,.

from VF website fine print :
Maximum speed reduced to 1.2MBps after full speed data allowance is exceeded.
Just to clarify - 1.2 MB/s is the same as 9.6 Mbps (8 bits in a byte). Mbps is usually connection speed, MB/s is usually download speed.
Yes, it makes a difference so it would be good to get the word from @PippaC on this.
It is not unusual for people in tech companies to mistake one for another. They're different measures/values.

oh ok so going by that value, we can clearly view Netflix content in HD quality no issues + also hotspot for other basic activities , thats a pretty good speed :)
This thread has prompted me to review my plan, I am on a legacy 22gb plan plus paying extra for redshare, for $99 I can get 40GB with 1 free red share, time to visit a Vodafone store on my lunch break!

Hi @DjShadow, Are you sure you've clicked on the Share option on the Vodafone website?
I found that the Red+ Lite plan includes up to 4 sharers and is cheaper than my existing Red+ Essentials plan
So, even more reason to order a 5G phone... having first stuffed my Y fronts with tin-foil and got my wife's permission.
(my wife's permission for the phone, not the pants thing).

Yes, except that if Vodafone later provides only 1.2 Mbps instead of 1.2 MB/s they will be in for a lot of complaining because they are obviously different.

I just checked Voda Aus site and it says so yes it is now really confusing what NZ voda will actually provide

Then keep using data at no extra cost in Oz at speeds of up to 1.5Mbps. **************************************************************************

Yeah I looked at them, the clear difference is the share plans have a data cap with extra cost if you go over it. I would of liked to of seen the unlimited data extended to the share plans.

I have a feeling it will be 1.2Mbps - the FAQ under "What can I do with my Endless Data at reduced speeds?" says: (emphasis mine)
With Endless Data at reduced speeds you can continue to do all the things you love like listening to music, keeping up on social media or streaming video (in max SD quality only). You may not be able to use multiple applications at the same time.
Once you start using your Endless Data you will notice a difference in speed with increased load time, particularly when watching video or viewing images in high resolution. The actual speeds will vary depending on device, location, network coverage and network congestion.

alasta:
Will people on existing plans be automatically migrated?
I am currently on the old $80 plan, and I am really keen on the new $80 plan as it appears to include hotspot support.
Hi alasta,
You'll need to resign on to our new Pay Monthly plan, to do this please click here.
Kind regards,

Handsomedan:
So I assume the unthrottled data is not available to roll over monthly?
Hi @Handsomedan, you are correct.
@PeterAB, @HamishVF any comment on the MBps vs Mbps question? Which one is correct (Megabytes/second or megabits/second)?
