I've seen speed tests with 35mb down and 10mb up. But I've seen reports where the speeds were only just better than ADSL2+. The internal wiring seems cause the biggest problems and the people that have had VDSL2 installed recommend that the internal wiring is sorted when VDSL2 is installed.

I just did the lookup on the Snap website and here are my results.

Downstream (ADSL2) 18.2 Mb/s
Upstream (ADSL2) 1.3 Mb/s
Downstream (VDSL2) 24.2 Mb/s
Upstream (VDSL2) 11.7 Mb/s

Mine:
Downstream (ADSL2) 15.5 - 15.9 Mb/s
Upstream (ADSL2) 1.2 - 1.3 Mb/s
Downstream (VDSL2) 18.4 - 18.8 Mb/s
Upstream (VDSL2) 7.6 - 8.3 Mb/s

But I know for a fact that i get no where near 15.5 down on ADSL2.

VF is still the winner in my books for the naked with On Account discount plus free MySky. If i went to Snap it would be a lot more expensive for a marginally better product (not to mention the 24 month ball and chain).

I'd say you'd fly on VDSL2... Prequal on my line indicated 25-30 down and 10 up... and apparently that is a fairly conservative estimate. I'm around 600m from cabinet (I think) and get around ~13/1 with ADSL2+ My understanding is that in theory in NZ the theoretical maximum is somewhere around 100/10 (but this is extremely unlikely?) and the technology itself has a theoretical maximum of something like 200/200.. but the way Telecom has it setup limits us here to 10 up... I await corrections on this though ;-)

I'm pretty sure they'll bundle other services with maybe a slight bump in the cap. I say this because I'm on the Vodafone voice list ango recently got sent a survey which asked about what I'd be keen to have included as a customer. At that stage (prior to spotify launching here) there were a lot of questions asking ifscree premium access to rdio would be a factor for me in being a Vodafone customer.

I am a subscriber to rdio so obviously myresponse was yes - that would be a factor in my decision to become/recommend or remain as a Vodafone customer. My guess is that this will be what they come out with prior to the end of June.

Unfortunately - as much as I love streaming music services - this only adds load to my data cap and I have other members of the family using truckloads on YouTube, Lego.com etc (kids) all of which use loads of data. 20GB doesn't cut it. Given the $30 or so to double my data each month - a free rdio subscription is not enough to contemplate a move to another provider.

Vodafone is permanently increasing the broadband allowance on its Ideal and Ultimate home phone and broadband packages by 20GBs – at no extra charge.

From today, the Ideal plan will increase from 20GB to 40GB and the Ultimate plan from 60GB to 80GB. Existing customers will automatically receive the additional data for the rest of the life of the plan, and the new data allowances are now a permanent part of Vodafone’s Ideal and Ultimate home phone and broadband packages for new customers.

Aaron Beckman, Vodafone’s General Manager of Consumer Marketing, explains: “It’s great news for Vodafone customers. The increase in data means they can do more of what they love online – browse the web, watch more TV on demand, stream music, podcasts, blogs and more. And best of all, it’s applied automatically, meaning our customers can sit back and enjoy the extra value on us – without having to do anything!”

Agreed - lets hope the additions will even the playing field. 20gb upgrade by itself appears quite a weak upgrade.

Hopefully. It should have been proportional though as the lower end subscribers paying for 20GB got a 100% data increase while the "ultimate package" users only get a 33.3% increase, seems unfair.
