Looks like Telecom are going to grow their market share. And quickly.

Looks to me like a stop gap while they try to sort out a whole new plan structure (too slowly). The now 3gb, 8gb, 40gb and 80gb sizes, if nothing else, just doesn't look right.

Meanwhile I'm sitting at 23 gb usage the last few months on naked, I want to get down to 'ideal' (still at 20gb on naked) but having to go for 'ultimate' (still at 60gb), thus wasting 37gb and about $9 (in perceived value terms).

But still the best deal on mysky, voip, and naked as far as I can tell, but I just want to knock $10 off please. Will help cover the sky increase!

brad_p: So still no word on Ideal/Ultimate Naked packages... even though I already got an email stating I would get an extra 20GB?

Just a thought, but try plugging in a phone, maybe you've been given a phone line too without ever knowing it? (could rack up some tolls if you have!)

really?  for the vast majority of people the recent cap increases are a marginal improvement.  Most people use less (a lot less!) than 20GB,  so increasing caps up to 40, 60, 100GB etc is nothing more than a "oh that's nice" moment  rather than a  "OMG it's not enough, I'm switching right now!"

+1
It keeps probably 95% of their install base happy. It doesn't help users who go 100GB+ every month (like me) but I'm pretty sure we aren't a huge part of their business.

I would guess the naked DSL customers use more data which is why that offering is not just getting a simple +20GB increase but hopefully something a bit more significant.

I need more than a 20GB increase.

We watch a lot of 1080p Apple TV movies, YouTube, podcasts, TV on-demand, frequently using about 120GB a month.

Currently with Orcon, have been waiting to see what Vodafone would offer, if this is it then I'm really disappointed.

I see Stuff are doing a fluff piece for Vodafone on how wonderful they are giving us the small increase http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/industries/7095143/Vodafone-ups-data-caps

I aim to misbehave.

I'm on Ultimate Naked. Never come close to hitting the cap (I'm the only one using my connection), probably average about 25-30 GB a month. $65 is pretty good value for me, the Ideal Naked package was only $10 cheaper for 20GB (now 40GB), which isn't that flash. At the end of the day I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist to save a couple of dollars for a high data cap with another ISP which I won't use. I did previously have a Telecom connection which was about 4Mbps d/l faster, but they don't offer naked so all their plans are more expensive..

Having said all that, not impressed by Vodafone's limp response to the other ISPs new caps. To me the actual amount won't change anything since I'm never going to use it, but I don't exactly feel valued as a customer when Telecom give their 60GB'ers another 60GB and Vodafone only give 20GB.

I'd be pretty happy with anything extra Vodafone can give me, 20GB more is great. But I'm on Ultimate Naked so I won't be getting it... makes me a sad panda :(

Any rumours on what, if anything, we naked customers will get?

Im failing to see the value myself. Sure everyone has different needs.

Personally - I need a phone line and data. I want to spend around $90. I dont get naked in my area.

Looking through snap, orcon, telecom, slingshot, maxnet, telstra I dont see any difference.

Vodafone competes with this market very well by at least meeting them or beating them. If you include the sky discount, it beats all of the competition in this market from what I can see.

Sure, more data is nice and competition is great, but comparing apples with apples, VF still has my custom.

PM Dylan over at the vodafone forums. I think they are opening up naked on other exchanges....

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

There's a catch: it's not available to naked DSL customers :(
