Grr.... 3G... I'm at the University, and sometimes, after it popped to a 2G signal and back to a 3G, the 3G remains on "no bar"... Ie, no signal..... I often have to "trigger" a signal re-connection by sending a text msg, otherwise, no one can call me / send me msgs... *Sigh*...

And I suspect I'm overcharged as well. How can I find out if I'm on prepay???

how do you know its not the handset

As per previous post call Vodafone and lodge a job. State location date and time and what sort of handset you have etc.

It can then be investagated

Call Vodafone and raise a job as per above post.

I think it would be a good idea to allways state your handset type in your posts.

Then would be easier to see which handsets are having the most issues.

Dont forget the handset is just plastic and metal its the firware running on the device that matters and how this software version interacts with the network.

These forums are full of info where the software has to be upgraded and where there are issues between the software and the network are not talking to each other.

I have read where a Nokia is say ok and say a Sony Ericsson gets a different experance or vice versa (I dont want to start a handset flame here.)

Lets us know what happens after you get feedback from Vodafone.

Some news you might have a look:

I just spoke with a guy who is doing some serious phone tests here for Vodafone and they said: It's NOT the network!

They told the SE 3G phone have a serious issue with the network, the firmware is not stable yet. Hopefully Sony engineers will solve it soon.

So if you are experiencing bad RF performance from your mobile, try to compare it with another brand. Put two different manufacturer's phones together and check if both are having network problems.

I think that's what testing is all about... it took me the whole 2 days in Auckland CBD/Ponsonby to spot the error

but you are right tonynz when I go into the CBD with my V800 the 3G coverage goes to zero bars and when I do anything with the handset the coverage pops up and then goes but down to nothing quickly after. The best way to test this would be by putting your SIM into another 3G handset and see what happen while in the CBD!

If it's really an issue for you (why can't you just turn off 3G until you need it?) then you can probably get the phone replaced with another under the consumer guarantees act.

Personally I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill!

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

Trust me it came from the right people. They are testing every 3G phone what you can buy here. The investigation is ongoing so look for firmware upgrades soon..
