I enquired a couple of days ago about new plans and got a call from Xnet sales today.
The Rep says that the plans are supposed to be announced on Thursday on the website and on the next bill and the two new plans she described were:
1. $70 (incl GST) fusion plan to include 5GB data, data overage at $1 per GB (incl GST)
2. $99 (incl GST) fusion plan to include 15GB data plus unlimited free national calls. data overage at $1 per GB (incl GST).
Plan 2 had a 12 month minimum contract.

This is what I have been told today. She said these were the only new plans so it looks like there are no plans with large data bundles included for high users.

That has to be wrong, those plans are only marginally better than the current ones! In fact, the second one is actually worse data wise, so unless you make a LOT of national calls it's a complete dud!

Also, no mention of VDSL plans, so there has to be more...

I would agree both of those look like they should have a 0 at the end of each of those data amounts. Option 1 saves you $6.40 and option 2 is $9.80 worse off lol

That's what the sales rep Julie told me on the phone. I phoned back and checked the details of the $99 plan to be sure.

Someone else could enquire by email or phone but I guess full details will be published on Thursday if she is correct with the date.

Even Telecom will give you a normal phone connection and 60gb of data for $105.

Currently Fusion over fibre is $99 for 0GB and $1.28 for overage... So both new plans are cheaper?

Still way too expensive!!!

Ok, so being a complete spreadsheet geek I couldn't resist throwing together a comparison of all the newly released ADSL plans from the major players (plus Vodafone's current offering). I am assuming that the new Xnet plans reported are in fact accurate.

I have priced all plans to deliver 100GB or more (with some plans it's cheaper to opt for more than 100GB than to pay overage / data pack charges to boost a lower plan up to 100GB) so I have also included an overall $/GB to give a better impression of the overall value for money. Note that I did not include the Slingshot Unlimited plan as it isn't really in the same category as these plans (ie; it's effectively 'rate limited').

Let me know if you find any errors.

Only to some. We would not use anywhere near enough to make the free national calls useful.

Honestly didn't see the free national calls so yes your right it's worth more than $10 making it slightly cheaper however he does not say this is Fusion over Fibre just Fusion.

Not only that if that's the best they can offer maybe I will switch to NZ's number one ISP as voted by users anyway Snap as just under $100 for 155gig is a lot better than what I get on the torrent plan (I'd probably still keep the VOIP with Xnet though) although 80% of my calls a month are to 0800 numbers or ringing a cell phone to find where it's disappeared to in the house lol.

Fingers crossed though I really like Xnet the QoS is great and I've not had to call support in more than 18 months unless you count the change of address related calls.

Personally I don't think these numbers could be correct, but at the end of the day it's all just guesswork until the official plans are released.

I'm currently on Fusion on ADSL2. The Sales Rep didn't specify whether the $99 plan was over fibre.

Ditto the Xnet service comments. I have also had great service from Xnet but the technical edge that they have had with VOIP etc has been whittled away by other ISPs and now when they have to compete on price, they are dropping the ball. I am currently a low data user so the per GB has worked well until now but as my data needs expand they are unable to compete. Pity.
