Comments like hurry up and saying that Vodafone is lagging do seem to me to say that, you may read it a different way. Obviously there was one tongue in cheek comment and I'm indulging in a certain amount of hyperbole but the point is people need to be a little realistic

there is nothing wrong discussing vodafone's data caps compared to the competition. this is a forum to do such things.

Agreed, nobody expecting a super fast turn around but they have to move [corporate] quickly as new sign-ups will suffer and out of contract customers may start jumping ship with much higher caps at the same or only slightly higher prices available.

To get out of my contract I just have to pay $199 for the modem and if I can double my data for the same price per month, I might think it was worth it long term.

Just like to point out that Vodafone lead the way with last round of Data increases not telecom. I'm sure Vodafone will come out with new plans in the next few days and expect them to take effect from the 1st of May.

Yes they may have lead the way in the first increase but what about now? they could have just announced their new "plans" stead of keeping everyone in the dark.

Of course like i said before there isnt another provider i would rather be with. Just seems that everyone else is getting in on these increases and we havent heard a thing yet.

Yes, They may have last time, Someone else did the time before, Someone else before then and on and on.

Its not about previous its about NOW and they are one of a few companies who are yet to update their plans.

My point earlier is that big companies take a bit of time to make decisions like this. One guy doesn't just go hmm we need to match our competitor, yep lets do that. There will probably be a fair amount of internal discussion around what the caps will be, when they should increase them etc. They then need to be modelled financially and for what technical effects it will have on the network etc etc. Then it needs to go to management for sign off.

Big companies also aren't typically all that keen to make promises and then have delays, especially on a public forum. It's been about 3 business days since Orcon and Snap announced their plans. Obviously this thread is about wanting an increase in data plans but shouting and making Vodafone sound like the bad guys isn't reasonable.

Now if in a couple of weeks they haven't responded then ranting is well in order.

I don't understand why you would expect a knee jerk reaction on data allowances. Do you use all of your allowance or is it the perceived value of I pay x and get y?

All im saying is that they could have let their customers know that they're working on something. At the moment we've had nothing. Literally.

Thats not true. Everyone around here knows that JohnR really makes all the decisions at vodafone.

As we speak he is sitting back watching this thread with amusement, his hand hovering over a large red glowing button that has a "double everone's data" label on it.

Seriously though, what you said makes sense. Vodafone will be competitive, a little bit of patience required I think.

The average NZ user is still using somewhere in the vicinity of ~15GB per month. The average US user is still only using close to double that with their "unlimited" plans, which are in effect 250GB caps anyway.

Those on here that think that everybody wants and needs a 500GB cap need to realise they're in the 1% minority, they are not an average user.
