Thanks, bj, we get it, you're not having issues. Unfortunately, a large number of users are, so you can stop the XNet butt licking and leave the thread if you're not going to say anything constructive.

I've never had lag spikes to AU servers. In ANY game.

sorry, I'm trying to be constructive. From xnet upstream we have the same connection, the path from my house to xnet is different from the path from your house to xnet. You have problems, I don't. Maybe the problem isn't with their international bandwidth

And as I've said many times, it would be a big coincidence if my line suddenly turned to crap at the same time as a large number of other users, which happens to also be at the same time as XNet has admitted to having an issue. You're not trying to be constructive at all, because you're ignoring about 50% of what's being said.

I just got home hoping the connection through xnet here was faster, but it seems my home connection has the same issues as work in Ponsonby.

to Auckland speedtest (xnet hosted)
Down 608
Up 610
ping 300ms!!!

To Los Angeles speedtest
Down 124
Up 222
Ping 242ms

I don't know whats wrong, but I'm sure Maverick isn't posting in here because he's fixing the speed issues :-)

xnet are usually very fast.

My national speeds are way down from when I first hooked up a couple of months ago. International seems to be a bit of a joke 300kbps. (Sydney)

Lets wait for xnet's explaination before calling it lame, Telecom is doing a LOT of DSLAM to ISLAM migrations, and reconfiguration of their network, and it could be a genuine fault with a telecom to xnet or internal xnet issue they are waiting for Telecom or a supplier for parts for.

I have no idea what the issue is, but xnet does engineer their network to a very high standard, and the non-appearance of Maverick their operations manager usually means the geeks are hard at work resolving this.

I tested two xtra connections today which only got 200-400kbps across NZ and this is almost normal on other ISP's - I'm happy this is a UNUSUAL situation with xnet, then par for the course.

I know it sucks, I'm installing a server and it's going to take 12 hours to DL my ISO's

First off - further personal attacks will result in the closure of the thread at the very minimum. Don't resort to it.

That aside, generally exchange issues as suggested would be mostly affect multiple users around the exchange and its highly probable that it would affect users regardless of provider. In any case, people need to remember that people pay an ISP for support and thus they need to follow this up with their providers (international  providers/dsl providers etc) to get this resolved in a timely manner.

Issues are issues - lets not try and distract us from the details.

UNUSUAL?!?
On and off over the last three or four months there have been similar international congestion issues for me. And many other users too, from what I read on the GP Forums. However, that time it seemed to be the fault of one bandwidth provider; ANC.

This latest issue, however, has been across both Alter and ANC. And to make things worse, it's been almost a month since international sunk to sub-100kBps. My national, however, merely went up a little to 540kBps.

This is NOT a Telecom problem. If it was, it would not have let my national speed up.

EDIT: Changes a bit of wording. As for following it up with Xnet. That's great. If they respond. X_X

Hmm, not the greatest..
But not all THAT bad really.. (local anyway)

Tests to Aussie aren't so great speed wise:

Although the pattern seems consistent (about half of my local speeds)
