Having had a home that was in Christchurch's Red Zone after the 1st quake...
I'm not 100% sure about Vodafone's marketing approach to the 'red zone' anymore!

No your old ihug plan did not get 50% extra data and it's not going to, Its not on the list that I linked to and you advised you read

I think it's great that Vodafone is boosting plans for existing users as well as new ones.

I'm considering switching, but am a bit confused about connection fees. From replies in this thread it looks as though one can churn from a N-DSL provider to Vodafone N-DSL with no connection fee or contract term.
What about moving from a standard broadband/phone line connection to Vodafone N-DSL? Is it possible to do that with no minimum contract or connection fees?

It;s a great news story and will help offset the CPI increase that all their existing customers are getting.
You might be paying $2-3 more per month but getting 50% more data is well worth it IMO.

I guess in reality, Vodafone is really no better than the rest of the money grabbing companies out there.

Its an old ihug plan to start with, Vodafone purchased ihug a number of years back now

Going by the inflation calculator I would be paying $2.46 more after 1 July 2011. Thats if Vodafone follow that, probably be rounded up to $5 :-)

To be honest with competition in the ISP market one would assume prices would keep going down. (As it has been doing)

just change to one of the new plans if they are better. nothing stopping you doing that.

If your current plan is still better than the new, +50%, ones, then what are you complaining for?

I would say to help push you off those legacy plans onto something more current. Hence the name legacy.

Can anyone confirm if existing customers will get the extra data on the first of July or if it will take effect from the following billing cycle, say the 23rd July?
Regardless it's a great cherry on top and excellent that you can just add the extra data blocks to gain a massive 90GB on the months needed.

I was very pleased to see the data cap go up. I had been on the Ideal plan with 10 gb which was not really enough.
Had Moved to the Ultimate 30 gb but was only using about 15 gb.
Great! I can move back to Ideal plan and get 15 gb which suits me fine.
Big mistake. Without a doult Vodafones accounting software is the worst I have ever seen. Have stuffed it up yet again. My data cap rolls over at the 8th of each month. I qued up a change from Ultimate to Ideal about a week ago. today I got an email saying I was over my data limit and was going back to 64 k. The Vodafone billing system has changed my data cap part way thru my billing cycle. How long am I going to spend on the phone to sort this one out?
