thekiwi:

Looks like its SNAP for me if the data costs arent improving from XNet.

Over n Out.

Hah, you might as well sign up with snap now, I doubt there will be any new plans out of XNet for a while longer yet and even so, they'll probably be a bit crap

I wonder what percentage of XNets DSL customers have switched already or going to switch?

Sounds like the only people left on Xnet are us suckers that have no other option... I'm so jealous of you guys going to other providers.

Barring any amazing, as yet unrevealed new plans from Xnet I'll probably be heading to snap as well. I'm still Interested to see what Xnet's VDSL pricing is going to be tho, the $50 premium that Snap charge is a bit steep IMO.

I know a few people on XNet and none of them are considering moving. None of them are on GeekZone either.

I'm an electronic engineer at one of the largest exporting electronics manufacturers in NZ (not F&P or Navman), and at work there are only 1 or 2 guys (non-XNet) which sometimes might go on GeekZone and only because it comes up in Google search results. The number of people here represents a tiny percentage of the population.

Despite this massive thread, I don't think it is such an issue for XNet or most of their customers. Perhaps frustrating for some of their staff, but probably not for them as a company or for most of their customers. If it was such an issue then we would have seen action long ago.

If you are not happy with the package, move on. If you have no alternative because the estate agent did not explain it to you, take it up with them or go wireless. If wireless is too expensive, stick with XNet and choose the data plan not the phone-only plan. If the data is too expensive, take it up with the estate agent that did not explain it to you.

I know someone in Mt Wellington, Auckland (i.e. very much urban) that is still on dial-up because that is all he needs. Find the solution that works for you and go for it.

I agree, the proportion of xnet customers who are aware of this thread must be very small indeed [if not inconsequential]. I discovered on Tues my neighbour was a Xnet customer. He was already planning on moving [he uses 80GB per month] and is unaware of this thread. I advised him that new plans are imminent so hang fire...before changing. Like many here I'll probably be changing to SNAP if the new plans are not competitive. I would have already if it were not for the 12 month contract sign up.

I'd like to think that WxC would reward their loyal customers patience who have paid a premium to stay with WxC whilst this issue has taken so long to resolve itself.

Each month is costing me 3 takeout coffees !

On a far more positive note just down the road they are trenching for UFB !!!

I've been thinking about moving for a while but I can't be bothered moving just yet. If they can bring it to semi competitive I'll be happy to stay. I'm only a light user 5-10GB a month but the 40GB plans are looking quite attractive especially with the speed I get these days youtube clips in HD quickly eat up my bandwidth.

Yup - what 9unk says - I too am historically a low usage user too so have not been so eager to jump as the impact is (was) less, so looking at these other plans I have (historically) just seen a pile of unused capacity, but the reality is that as things change I am using more and more just because the services available online now are getting better and better.
So more and more the other players in the market are starting to look more and more attractive.

Had a quick look now, and it seems that the early rumours are true. Sad to say, it's a bit disappointing. Will digest this more thoroughly later today, but it looks like I'll be saying goodbye to Xnet. It's a shame, but this offering doesn't really stack up, especially when it's taken so long to get here...

hmmm not great but always had great service and support both here and via phone over the years so for the time being will stick with xnet. Our data does go up every month so I'm not sure how long will be able to justify the $ though.

How do we upgrade our account to the new plans? Do we have to go through the checkout process as I cannot see any options in xport.

Only way to change plans at this point is to call us on 0800 123 123 and talk to Customer Care or Sales department if you're changing to a Contract/term plan.

Will any plans be auto migrated? E.G. will the current Fusion urban or rural be migrated to Fusion $70 plan? Or do we need to request this change?
Thinking it's last day of bill cycle today.

@Cameronn

Why are there no 100/50Mb/s Fibre plans?

Can you get Fibre without the VOIP addon? Is that cheaper?
