Not to be negative here Paul, as this is progress, and any progress is a step in the right direction, but...

The pricing has not changed from the $1 a day rate, all it does is allow a user to use more or less in a given day...so more freedom, but no savings (unless one was being charged the excess rates)

I personally am planning on ditching my internet at home and going 100% mobile, but these 10mb a day, 100mb a month blocks are too small, and in my opinion, still not an attractive option value wise...

To realistically replace my home internet, I am looking at the 3gb a month plan, which offers double data for an extra $10...now thats far more suitable, but...

To signup on any of those plans, I have to go on account...(if I want to keep my sim and mobile number, and be able to txt etc)

Why?

Why still, now that Vodafone is offering data blocks (small) to prepay customers?

Why cannot I be given the option, the choice, to select the 3gb data block, in the same way as the 100mb data block for my prepay phone?

I want to pay more to Vodafone, an extra $70 a month, for data...by adding another 'add-on'...but I am put off by the thought of having to signup to an on-account plan at a further cost of at least $19 a month, for which I may not need or want, let alone use the included minutes of said plan.

I would be willing to on-account, providing there was a plan taliored for internet users...
Currently there are plans taliored for TXTers, and Talkers...so why not have plans taliored for Internet users?

I am hoping Vodafone will have somthing like this on offer in the very near future.

Sorry for the winge Paul. (and long post)

hasole: grrr this makes me angry, I'm on the 200mb plan for 24months (signed up about 7 months ago) and its $29.95/month of which I only use about 30mb for mfe and light browsing.

The break fee was $200+gst

/end rant :P

You chose to enter a long contract for this at the time you signed up for it. Any anger at being on the contract should be self directed since its hardly unknown for IT services to get better and cheaper as time goes on. You also chose an unsuitable plan for yourself so either you chose wrong or your situation has changed - again, you are the one that entered into this contract so no point getting angry at vodafone.

Either pay the break fee and pay less now, see how the figures stack up for waiting 5 more months then paying the break fee at the 12 month point, or keep paying for the term which you agreed to. This reminds me of the whiners who were on a fixed rate for their home loan and rates dropped and they had to pay break fees.

I almost went onto BES, until they wanted a break fee.  I would've thought going to bes it wouldn't have cost anything being that it is $20/month more.  Looks like RIM make a killing.

I think back when I was looking at the data plans I was on $10/3mb and the $20 plan was for 15MB.

Next question is.. will it ONLY be $10 for 100mb, or will they start offering more than that just that.

I mean $10 is a good deal, but it makes me wonder if they will in turn alter their mobile broadband plans.

Before T-Day (June) would be a fair assumption

Meh, I hate assumptions. they're usually wrong :P  it would make sense though.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see :(

New data pack for on account users is now available:

Broadband Lite

If you use more than 10MB of data in a session, or want the freedom to use more data when you need to, then our Broadband Lite plan is right for you.

This gives you 100MB to use in a month, and extra data is charged at just 10c per MB.

Please phone 777 if you would like to add a 100MB data plan to your mobile account

Does anyone know how it works if you add it half way through your billing cycle?

If it is halfway through the billing cycle the data and cost will be prorated. I signed up but the CSR said it had to go to another department for activation and I would receive a message when it was active.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

So are you saying they didn't prorate your data?
