Does the Vodafone TV app work with gen 2? I can't get it to log in...

 

I have the following VF logins: 

 

  • Mobile
  • Broadband
  • VTV (Gen 2)

I though VF were looking at consolidating services, instead they added a seperate one for VTV :)

The new V2 box has been loading REALLY slow recently on the free to air channels (really we only watch TV 1 news and Master chef). It often crashes with channel not subscribed, or channel not available when starting it up. Sometimes only a hard power off/on  seems to reset it.  Also when rolling back to the beginning of the news from a later time it is either slow and loads, or just returns a black screen.

Trying to watch Border Patrol (for the schadenfreude) from an hour earlier, but it won't load. and throws an sc401 message and then seems a message about vf being reconnected. 

 

No great loss :-) but it is an odd thing, we just rolled back and watched the news and that was OK.

@netspanner can you please explain exactly what you mean when you say that the Gen2 box has been really slow on free to air channels? Also, can you confirm how your STB is connected: WiFi or Ethernet. And what kind of broadband do you have?

We only watch TV1, as we watch Netflix with a roku, and only flick over around the news time. When turning it on it seems to take a while to load the main screen, and even longer accessing the channel timetable section.

 

Sometimes it shows a channel not found or a channel not subscribed error. It seems recently that everything seems to be slower than in the past, rewinding to watch the 6pm news sometimes returns a blank screen or the types of errors I mentioned.  Last night trying to watch Border Patrol while  the realtime TV1 was on the next awful program, just failed to load at all. 

 

The solution seems to be to turn it off and back on, or even unplugging and restarting. 

 

 

 

We are on Vodafone UltraFast HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) connect using ethernet. Our internet is great, Netflix loads in seconds.

One issue I have noticed is you can't watch a catch up if you have recorded then deleted.

 

I make a habit of deleting shows once I’ve watched them but occasionally someone else in the family will want to watch.

 

This doesn’t appear possible, even if a program is still within the 3-day rewind window.

The only problem i am having is a fast forward the picture stays still to i stop the fast forward and sometimes i miss some of my program to i rewind back a little.

Pity I didn't know about not being able to add a second VTV to my account. When I tried is said coming soon.

 

I had to activate my second VTV under my wife's email\phone

 

Question once we do have the ability to add other devices and use multi room for sky, can I move the new VTV to my account? Also when will this be available?

Every catch up show I watch always seems to be running over time, and will just stop playing. So I select the next show, and start that from the beginning, but there is still always missing footage. Is this normal? I thought if I was watching a catch up show it would just roll into the next show.

They disabled the picture fast forward has it was not performing good, once they have worked it out can enable on back end with out firmware upgrade.

Yes... Also every time I play catchup it seems to start late.

That's two good questions, I would like to know the answer to these also.

 

I have also bought two gen 2 boxes.

Just to make sure you guys are aware if have multiroom Sky it’s an extra $25 for each additional box. Same as Sky multiroom, but in this case Sky is not having additional assets to put in people’s homes.

If aware and happy with it, that’s fine.
