Axident:
I've been having issues with the HFC network as well. The problems started about 6 weeks ago and really mainly affects international gaming. DL/UL speeds within NZ are good at about 300DL/30UL, but as soon as I go international they plummet. Gaming is massively affected, and voice comms are badly degraded. According to speedtest, UL to places like LA or Montreal are often about 0.2Mbps. Called OneNZ and got put through to their service desk with dogs barking and roosters crowing in the background. They just tried a factory reset on the modem (ancient Technicolor black box). There was no mention of modem replacement or other solution options. I was also informed that the network was only for inside NZ, and it was only for data, and some confusion about latency and throughput.
I don't expect full speeds internationally, but I also don't expect sub 1Mbps speeds. Network issue? Trying to push people off HFC? Modem issue? Should I be pushing for a replacement modem? And yes, I've got fibre installed, but the equivalent plans are all about 30$ a month more and that's just not in my budget ATM.
@Axident New modem will not fix international issues if domestic traffic is fine
