hairy1: If it is halfway through the billing cycle the data and cost will be prorated. I signed up but the CSR said it had to go to another department for activation and I would receive a message when it was active.

CSR I spoke to did it straight away and about 2 mins later my balance was 100MB.

So are you saying they didn't prorate your data?

They never mentioned this to me. I better take a look.

Just added this to my plan..

The CSR said there was another freetxt service to check data plan/usage. "mydata" (or something like that, he didn't spell it) to either 756 or 777... doesn't seem right to me - and if I try it I get a "couldn't understand your request" txt in response. Any idea Johnr?

I don't believe data addons ever have been prorated. I could be wrong on this though..

Anyone wanting to sign up (and who is on account) can do so over the phone by free calling 678.

That gets you right through to the provisioning team so they can sort you out.

Cheers

Paul

Maybe Paul could clear up whether they're meant to only alocate a few MB for a part month, or whether thats only for phone minutes etc. and NOT data?

(Apologies if this isnt that clear, had a loooooong day. :P)

also waiting to hear that answer, as new month starts in 3 days. obviously dont want to have to pay a full month and use 100MB in 3 days.

I just signed up and they said i can either wait till my billing cycle and have it added then OR they can add it now and charge me a part monthly fee and recalculate the data to match.

My billing day was ~2 days ago.. my account currently has about $8.50 of 'unbilled calls', which equates to slightly less than the $8.89 which is $10 including GST.

From that I'd hypothesize that the plan was added as extra unbilled balance, but at a part month cost. I do have a full 100MB available, so that potentially means that the data isn't prorated, but the cost is. Don't hold me to that :)

Paul/John, does this sound right or wrong?

oh okay, strange. they asked me the same, only, not about recalculating it.

They have given me 100mb, which to be honest, im not worried about it, because my bill doesnt roll over till 23rd.

thanks for finding that out

Are you guys getting your data balances through 777 text BAL? I have been told my data plan was added and I could start using it but no data balance on 777 and my unbilled balance is heading North.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I am getting mine through that service.

Bal remaining untill 22/04/09:
Mthly anytime nat. mins: 16
Mthly anytime nat. vf-vf mins: 168
Mthly vf-vf TXTs: 1688
Mthly approx. MBs: 93

my service was activated at 8.09am this morning. two minutes after i spoke to the CSR.

Pretty good, I must say.

Was told to set the APN, turn the phone off for 2 minutes, and then turn it on again.

Whala! All is go!

How long ago did you sign up?

I signed up about 10 mins ago, they told me it would take 30 minutes to process.

Might i suggest logging into the My Vodafone section of the website, and 'Managing your Account'

There i can also see my balance of MB's.

If they are not showing, it must not be active on your number.. ring and find out :)

Apologies everyone, the info i received from Vodaofne was slightly wrong (for the better)

I've been charged $5.37 (excluding GST) as a part monthly charge for the Broadband Lite addon, however when i login to my account, it states:

Free Anytime MBs  100 of  100  Expires On: 24/04/09

It appears you are charged for a part month, but recieve the full month of data :)
