I just wish they would turn off that transparent proxy, or at least give us the option.  It is SO frustrating.

Yip, if I keep getting the issues I'm getting right now I'm going to set up vpn to my US vps and route regular stuff back that way.

I'm having the same issue in Wellington with some international sites not loading, and if and when they do there are no style sheets loaded. Is there any word on how long this proxy server issue is going to take to fix? I would check my twitter account to see if telstraclear has posted anything but it won't load for me. :(

I rang the HD before... after I got the guy past understanding that distance to the exchange has nothing to do with http performance on HFC network...

Got told to email traceroutes to isptestpc@clear.net.nz

How a traceroute is going to help to understand anything is beyond me, but hey, if they want us to fill up the mail box with garbage I suggest we get busy :)

And if it's a proxy problem a traceroute will be super helpful.

Browsing seems to be OK for me but I'm starting to get that problem again with certain sites timing out, www.google-analytics.com seems to be a bit problematic at times.

Excuse ignorance but how is a traceroute helpful?  It's tracing on port 0?  They know the routes out of their network don't they?

More info on how this helps with proxy would be interesting.

Cheers Don

Doesn't anyone have a direct line of contact to someone who knows what they're talking about at telstraclear? The board administrator perhaps? I'm not sure I understand how a tracert would help solve the problem either, but hey I'm only halfway through a CCNA course so what would I know? I can ftp and ssh into servers in the US but not bring them up in a browser - so frustrating!

NZNog is your friend.

...but hey, we should be sending those traceroutes and asking for answers.

Perhaps we should also post the queries here as well so that we can all test and know how big the issue is/isn't?

on my ADSL, Every now and again some pages wont load, but some do, like trademe and facebook work fine, but others wont load at all.

All i do is reset router, and it fixes the issue untill next time.

Is this related?

Talked to TCHD at 4:40pm... says there's been endless problems in there.

* erx
* DDOS
* proxy - youtube, others
* power out in wgtn

I'm still having problems to US and AU.

Would be more helpful if you told us more about you at the same time as posting...

ADSL in ?  Broswer, Sites that your having trouble with

are you on dynamic IP with ADSL?  resetting the tunnel would give you a different route wouldn't it?

Cheers Don

Pretty crap latley its usually rock solid. Have been thinking about switching due to cost and these outages are helping this descion

also - if we switch back to say Telecom ADSL and phone line (currently with telstra) will a tech be requried to come do some rewiring and a fee applied?

I'm in Chch and have access. Hopefully it stays that way as I'm home sick today. Where are you guys? Have you called TC? It may not be as widespread as the outages earlier in the week. I'm a 1km south-west of bush inn.
