Right now I am downloading Mozy client on ICONZ datacentre at 300KB/s. With TelstraClear at home it max at 29KB/s.

I've been trying to download a file from the US too - usually get 500kB/s transfer, last night and today get only 50kB/s - if I then try downloading something else from the US they both share what is apparently my 50kB/s max speed. Speed test to a couple of US servers show similar speeds, although Aus and NZ servers are fine.
[EDIT] - Just rechecked, and it seems that my max speed is up to just over 100kB/s, which is an improvement over last night. Anyone know a good Wellington ISP?

Hassle to get a Telecom landline installed etc, but might be worth it.

as it seems they clearly have no intention of doing anything about this in the foreseeable future, i am now in the process of switching isps. not waiting another 9000 months a la youtube, and not paying 140 a month for something so damn terrible. cbf with these idiots and the only answer ive received while ringing them is 'we cant see any problems'.

Yup, I'm about to leave too. I actually tried to sign up with Xnet a couple of days ago (no minimum term!) but the signup page was broken. Doesn't really bode well...

Anyone been having problems in the last 15-20 min? I'm in Strathmore, Wellington

I've been unable to go to any sites except for Stuff. Any other site just times out.

Edit: Seems to be working fine now.

Yes, me too (also in Strathmore) - I was just bitching about it on Twitter, though that was also timing out. I couldn't open google.com, fedex.com, or speedtest.net

Right now I am trying to use Bing and it timesout. I tried to login to Xero.com for some accounting and it times out.

Both bing and login.xero.com are distributed through Akamai. I thought TelstraClear had their own Akamai caches but it seems things are going to worse now.

Everything's working for me (just tested Bing, and haven't had any other issues this morning), although I'm on DSL, not cable. Some of the problems mentioned earlier in this thread were affecting me, but the current issues seem to only be affecting cable customers.

Last week someone from TelstraClear told they had an ongoing DDoS attack. Obviously they have not updated their status page, because it seems they continue the tradition of not communicating with their customers.

Over the last week TelstraClear has been the target of DoS attacks coming out of the Asia region which in turn, affects all TelstraClear international traffic.
When we become aware that an attack has commenced we are dropping our TelstraClear international BGP advertisements which forces all international traffic (after BGP advertisement propagation) through our Telecom international circuit.
TelstraClear are keeping us up to date regarding mitigating the effects."

Why don't TelstraClear tells their customers they are having problems? Is it too hard to tell paying customers they have a problem?
