Had my Modem upgrade on Saturday in Wellington. The technician checked the signal where the current modem was and swapped out the old modem for a Cisco DPC3008 and called in the swap.

The thing took about 30mins to provision itself.

I'm pretty happy with the speeds. I can get very close to 100mbit from Wellington and Christchurch Telstraclear speedtest servers, the Auckland one for me was only about 50mbit. I tested a large file transfer from Europe and was able to get 75mbit by opening up lots of concurrent sessions, (each session is limited to 200kB/s)

Like the old Motorola SB5101, the Cisco DPC3008 has a web page where you can see the signal strength and some other things at: 192.168.100.1

Whoa, looks like the prices have gone up significantly in the last couple of weeks - the 150G plan is now $155.95 - I thought broadband prices were supposed to go down over time, but that's a 60% increase. What's up with that?

Check out the previous page on this thread, apparently they have had issues with their website. Must be all over the place, it showed me $95 just now for that plan. I think the lower price is the valid one

Called today and changed my plan to warpspeed 150, they made me sign up for 12 months, which from reading here seems quite common. Coming next week to change the modem as they are busy.

If anyone is wondering, on the warpspeed 150gb plan, you can get a t-box with freeview for free (when you factor in the package discount) if you commit to 24 months.

If you use the "build your own package" feature on the Vodafone website, it looks like this applies to the 100GB plan as well.

Well, as agreed with Vodafone I paid my bill today, less the $90 credit. I hope the credit is applied and I don't get anything strange next month (or my line disconnected this month).

Got through to a CSR who was surprised about the large bill, they said there had been some mixups when applying the promotional price.
Got the installation and pro-rata/next month charges adjusted and the bill reduced from $779 to $40 which is nice. Apparently the next bill will have the credit and correct monthly plan present, so will wait till then to see if order is restored.
At least a good outcome for me!
