@JasonParis

Awhile ago there was a post concerning charging for caller ID on your VOIP network you were going to query this charge but nobody from vodafone responded with a answer.

Sorry for the delay. As you can imagine - we have had a fair bit on. Can you clarify the issue is that we are charging customers for caller ID functionality on VOIP? I haven't seen this issue come up of late, so is it still a problem/error?

Thanks

Jason

@JasonParis They are saying it should be free as other providers don't charge for Caller ID on VoIP lines

Wouldn’t be surprised VF are trying to drop the cable network, I remember a conversation at compass, they couldn’t wait for ufb to come along as it was more cost effective offering services on ufb than maintaining the Old counties power fibre network. Makes financial sense, although I also have no idea what the VF cable network upkeep or cost of delivery costs are.

Oddly, I just tried the website again, entering my old address in Wellington where I had cable installed back in 2001 - but it's only showing the options of fibre, VDSL, ADSL or 4G wireless.

In our area with no access to fibre but with cable, it appears as though residents are being transferred over from Vodafone cable to wireless broadband.  With many elderly residents, it is causing quite a lot of pain as they appear to have no choice over the change and many have trouble with home phones and Vodafone TV not working properly and difficulty understanding call centre staff's foreign accents.  Being elderly, they want to keep their existing phones and numbers.  Spark are doing well with a lot of residents switching to Spark wireless broadband and phones with much more ease.

I don't know whether a forced change by Vodafone affects whether they are entitled to stay on contract or not.

@Wilko Call Vodafone and tell them you want to be moved back to the Cable network they should not be forcing customers onto the 4G wireless soltion

I am not affected as I am not on Vodafone.

I just see this as proof that Vodafone are doing away with their Cable network - at least in our area (Kapiti)

As a Senior I would have the same concerns. I am not sure how switching from Vodafone Cable to Spark wireless broadband would be of any help. Can you elucidate please.

@jasonparis can you either verify the above statement or put it to bed.

I have talked with three local residents on Vodafone.  One was having trouble with his T-Box and was told by the helpdesk that he would have to go to wireless, and that if he didn't now, he would have to by the end of the year anyway.  Consequently, after a lot of trouble getting the wireless internet, TV and phone to work (especially the phone), it is now working well and he is happy with it.  Another elderly lady was changed over to wireles but had trouble with her phone, and with her family members living overseas the phone was essential for them keeping in touch. After several weeks of difficulty she gave up and went with Spark wireless with phone, and is happy.

The third person told me about the difficulties she was having with her TV and phone, but I haven't heard any more from her.
