Well I thought Telstra Clear had finally got their act sorted. YEA RIGHT.

Telstra booked my T-Box install for last Friday morning. They rang and left a message on my answer phone at 12 to ring back to confirm the install for Friday morning. My Wife rang back at 1215 to say it was alright to do the install and they said they would ring back when they were on their way to install it.

As she hadn't heard from the them by 2.00 she rang them back only to be told that it was to late and they couldn't intstall it untill Wednesday between 0930 and 1230.

I took this morning off to be there for the install and the got a call from the tech at 1200 saying he was on the way. 1220 he turned up disconnected all of the old equipment and de-provisioned the old modem.

Telstra couldn't provison the new modem for the T-Box and he couldn't get a answer from Telstra as to when they could.

He then went away and did a couple of uninstalls came back and still couldn't re-provison the new modem. He went away again and has just come back @ 500ish and still can't provision it. He reconnected my old box but couldn't set up the EPG as the old modem had been de-provisioned.

The tech installer told me that Telstra will ring me when they have it sorted and to arrange another time for the re-provisioning of my modem so they can setup my T-Box.

So far I've wasted a days leave, still have my standad set-top box with no EPG and are going to have to take more time off to hopefully have my T-Box installed.

The tech was great and I have no problems with him and I am so glad I am not a tech installer for Telstra. They must get so frustrated with all the problems beyond their control and they are the people on the coal face dealing face to face with the customers.

I am giving Telstra until the end of this week to sort the issues out or the only job they will be doing here is another uninstall and the Sky tech will be doing the install.

I have waited patiently for over 2 years for their PVR and this is the final straw, its looking more like farwell to Telstra hello Sky everyday now.

Come on Telstra sort your act out, luckily for them their TV support isn't taken into consideration for the best internet provider awards!!!!!!

I have a similar story.

Fortunatley I already have a T-Box and arranged for a second for the bedroom. Tech turned up at 11.30am but had issues and had to come back later in the afternoon - but still could not complete the install. Very frustrating as someone had to hang about at home for most of the day plus he has to book another time to come back (As an aside - why? Everything is cabled up and ready to go, why does he need to come back?)

Hats off to the Tech though - he was doing the best he could. Sounds like TCL have provisioning issues at the headend - hopefully this is a teething issue otherwise their rollout will take as long as the PVR wait!!

Interesting.

Perhaps, I'll order the T-Box and hopefully get it installed relatively early. If I time it right, I can have both MySkyHDi and T-Box hooked up to our TV at the same time (MySkyHDi will be pending an uninstall request).

I'll be able to compare them both for the sake of curiousity (although, not side-by-side).

MySkyHDi has been awesome. However, one particular thing that annoys with it is that whenever you pause while watching a recording, it also causes any programmes currently being recorded to pause (recording). So you can end up with a recording that jumps because it's been paused.
It's annoying because you have to remember not to press pause when watching pre-recorded content (use stop instead), otherwise you might pause whatever is being recorded in the background.

I am hoping that the T-Box does not have the same "feature".

Well the install wait in Wellington is at least a week at the moment. (or a week and a half if they forget to book you in like they did to me)

Had my 2 T-Boxes installed today after booking on Saturday. The install was relatively straight forward and everything is working as it should :)
The only minor issue being Telstra did not enable the HD Ticket and when I called to enable it they had no idea how to do it :|

Now to reprogram my Harmony Remote :)

Got my two installed yesterday in Chch, a few issues with provisioning - resolved after a couple of hours when the installer returned.

Experiencing random freezing and no audio on sport 1 last night,

current problem is the remote won't learn the samsung tv code - tried them all twice!! Have looked online with no luck so far. Its a sumsumg LCD LA26R51B.

Thought I'd just pitch in and provide a positive experience to try and balance them all out :) I phoned TCL to organise the install last week and it was installed and up and running on Tuesday afternoon - so everything went smoothly for me.

I think one of the issues that the installers are having to contend with (and perhaps why there is such a long queue of people waiting) is that the when the T-Box is plugged in for the first time it takes an age to get itself up and running (I'm assuming its downloading all the necessary software etc.)

Also I guess the thing to consider is there is huge interest in the product and I can imagine that trying to provision so many things at once (whilst presumably doing the "normal" load as well) is pretty tough.

Not saying they're perfect (far from it) but thought I'd give credit where credits due... also I think its definitely worth the wait (especially if they follow up the release with feature upgrades in a timely manner)

Pick up a Logitech Harmony Remote - they're great (and cheap!) and I had no problem programming the remote into it (although it did take a while as I had to manually learn all the keys)

Also bear in mind though, TelstraClear is giving those eager fews (like us) a chance to get on board early to experience the T-Box. It is also pretty much kinda like an "open beta" as the OS is still getting updated.

Internet is my backyard...

I think TCL would benefit if they had some kind of official forum for collecting feedback (which I'm guessing they did for the beta phase?) and announcing new features.

No problem for us as we're here - but guessing that lots of T-Box users don't know that geekzone exists ?

We're fortunate to have TCL and ZollyMonsta keep eyes on here. However, TCL have their beta forum for selected beta testers as well as their internal/staff field-testing. What is on offered right now is early-adopters, which most likely be people more adventurous and no doubt geeks like us jump on at it without missing a pulse.

The problem I have found is that the concerns/bugs/incidents that we are experiencing are not reported to the installers - most of who were all in the beta team.
They love the box but just a tad frustrated with installing it at the moment.

Downers and Telstra are learning as they go and from the reports I have seen on GZ they are getting better and ironing out the "install/provisoning bugs"
