I'm in Hamilton, but on our ADSL broadband, the IP is displayed as being in Auckland, so location based advertisements and websites have trouble finding my location, and I have to manually choose Hamilton.

Is this expected behaviour? When I've used other ISPs at friend's houses, they correctly display as Hamilton.

Comes down to an admin function as to where the IP is allocated.

My Auckland IP was Christchurch for a long time - only annoying when you go to run a speedtest.

Not much you can do (or need to).

Unless you're looking for SEXY SINGLES IN YOUR AREA...

IP addresses are assigned to an ISP, not a geographic location.

Blame the dumb advertisers trying to reverse engineer a system..
