I found out from an email to Chorus a few months back that around February our cabinet/exchange (not sure which) was scheduled to be upgraded to ADSL2+. Just yesterday I noticed that the modem is now connecting at ADSL2+ instead of just ADSL1. The download and upload speeds listed in the modem are basically identical to what we used to have (4.5Mbps D/ 1Mbps U). I can't get attenuation because our Vodafone Router doesn't supply it in the stats.

Is this normal for the performance to stay the same until the equipment is finished being upgraded and configured? I do know we were some distance from the exchange, but the Chorus email I got said that even accounting for our distance, We should get over 10Mbps download.

Even though many people are getting UFB, this minor upgrade is still exciting for me, so it'd be good to have some info :)

Did you find the account number for our address? 36db isn't a great attenuation is it, but do you know if the speeds will increase as the Chorus work is completed?

Thanks

There wont be anything to make it faster. Its running at the line capacity. ADSL2+ wont have much difference at this distance in terms of Sync.

So the 5Mbps Download speed I have now is the maximum I'll get?

Check with CoffeeBaron if he can do some work but yes. Performing to specification :)

Distance and copper quality causes it to be slow. There is a lot of info floating around about internal wiring issue. Consult CoffeeBaron about this.
