I was trying to troubleshoot a Polycom VVX 410 connecting to the Open VFX service and for kicks I changed the transport from DNSnaptr (performs NAPTR and SRV look-ups that discover the transport, ports, and servers) to TCP Preferred. That made the connection work. Looks like there might be something incorrectly configured on the WxC side as I've never had to explicitly set a transport with other services (voip.ms, callcentric, etc...)?
pan.wxnz.net doesn't have a NAPTR or SRV record (but neither does the voip.ms or callcentric.com SIP servers from what i can tell). According to this good summary of RFC3263 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14180750/performs-a-naptr-query your phone should have just reverted to using the A record and UDP. Does your phone work if you use the same port and use UDP or will it only work on TCP ?
