I want to get some feedback on the speed tests that I have been doing using.

http://christchurch.speedtest.vodafone.co.nz/

So first of all I am using a direct Ethernet cable to my PC no wi-fi turned and no other devices using internet in the house at the time.

Location is North Canterbury about 30km outside of Christchurch with Broadband.
I have tried a couple of phone sockets in the house and 2 PC with more or less the same results.

I swear my Broadband had got slower in the last 18 months.

I am sure my downloads used to be between 10-15 now a typical result looks like this.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 4336 kbps (542 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 687 kbps (85.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

I have contacted VF and they said they will send me a new router and then dig deeper if this does not help.

I would like some thoughts from others if they think a new router will help or if the problem is deeper ?

Thanks

From the information given in this thread there is nothing you can do to improve your speed other than to move to Rural RBI Wireless (http://ultimatebroadband.co.nz would be the guys to check out here). I have done the checks for your location and have confirmed this. Your connection is working as designed and you're not going to be getting any extra speed from it anytime soon.
