Hi All,

On checking my router 2 days ago I noticed that I were recieveing multiple DoS attacks constantly.

On recomendations from my son who is staying with us at the moment and has CCNA quals, he recomended that I contact Vodafone and ask for a IP address change, which I did. The help guy was really good and asigned us a new IP address while I were on the phone to him, the only problem being, is that it was a incorrect address and when my son tried to change it it wouldn't work.

He contacted Vodafone on my behalf and spent a considerable amount of time with them trying to sort the problem out, only to find out they had given me a incorrect IP address. Vodafone then  tried to charge us for another IP address change as you are only allowed 1 free change. After alot of diccussion they agreed to give us another free one as the previous one they gave us didn't work, but it was going to take 1.5 days this time to action and if that didn't work they would send out a tech as it is most likerly the router that is at fault.

So a couple of points here, how come it takes 1.5 days to reasign another IP address when it  only took 10 minutes yesterday ,all be it the wrong one.

Also if it takes 1.5 days to get the new IP address and if that doesn't work it will take another 1.5 days for a tech to come out and fix the router thats has been broken apparently by the IP address change, we will be with out the internet over the Xmas break.

So there goes the Skype calls to family and friends overseas at Xmas. Vodafone have given my son and my Wife the free data on your cell phone  option if they can't fix your interenet, but as I have a 2 Degree phone not for me and running the Vive, playstation thru the celphone is really that practical.

As far as I am aware cable is still has static IP, and everything worked before changing the IP address. The Dos attacks  didn't have a IP address associated to them, but what the Voda help person told me was a Mac address.

I found 29 pages of the DoS attacks details from 2 days in my router log.

Cheers Paul.
