Reviced an email today from vodafone entitled: Important news about your           @vodafone.net.nz email account

that states they are closing the servile in November - is this real or is someone phishing?

Link below suggests it to be the case, I still wouldn't click on any links though.

https://www.vodafone.co.nz/email/

Don't confuse this with vodafone.co.nz and ihug.co.nz etc. accounts needing reconfirmation a month or two back.

Odd. Its good of them to say that its am old platform and are ending it (or updating to SSL) but why leave .co.nz and Clear and Ihug?

Perhaps they are conducting this as a pilot to see how they will shut down some of the others. Worth noting they are not completely shutting down but will offer forwarding for this one at least.

I'd imagine vodafone.net.nz would have had one of the lowest response rates from when they asked people whether they wanted to keep their email two months back.

Actually. Ihug and Clear, especially Clear are a lot more common than Vodafone.*.nz  The same issue apply to the others, I guess this is the trial, as you say

Interesting, wasn't that moved to the ihug email platform already? Any changes for Vodafone. Co. Nz addresses?

Given that vodafone.net.nz is very small, and as was mentioned above this is probably a pilot of the smaller volume, before the others go.
