No not just me. I have communicated with quite few disabled persons who also think the move is very good. But hey you go ahead and enjoy your tantrum.

Turn the phone off if you're not bothered about getting a life threatening warning. 

 

I will (well, flight mode). Though, if I had some control over it, I'd pick a less horrifying sound - but that's not an option because apparently big brother needs to control everything. I also wouldn't need to turn on flight mode, so I could still get messages from people if there was _actually_ something I needed to worry about, or if there was a personal emergency among those I care about.

But hey, keep infantilising people & pushing for technological control of everything. Let's all live in the THX-1138 universe.

There won't be any, unless I can go back to the 90s to buy one. This system is used in multiple countries, as far as I can tell it's law in the US, so it's extremely unlikely any phone manufacturer will make any model without it.

@ the majority of people who want these alerts: what actually are you upset about? A few people want choices (yes I realise I seem to be the only one of them here), but I don't think anyone wants to deny you this system. So what's it to you if a few odd balls opt out? Why ridicule? Are you so threatened that one lone voice dissents?

Because those odd balls will still expect someone else to put their life in danger to rescue them, when they could have easily rescued themselves if they got and acted on the warning.

Any iPhone capable of IOS11 (iPhone 5s onward) has an easy off toggle... easy answer for you without going back to the 90’s?

Because those odd balls will still expect someone else to put their life in danger to rescue them, when they could have easily rescued themselves if they got and acted on the warning.

I could still just as easily smash my phone and stay in danger out of sheer angry stubbornness. And there's any number of reasons people may not get warnings, power cuts to multiple towers for example, so that's still going to happen anyway.

Yes. There are any number of reasons be beyond their control,  why some people wont get a warning.

But you are choosing not to get the warning, there by potentially giving rescuers more unnecessary work to do.
