Tethered to PC, want to force it to use 3G only as coverage here is crap so it flicks between 3G and H. Have tried forcing it to use WCDMA only but it still uses this "H" network a lot which is sloooow, thanks

H is HSDPA, which is actually a faster version of WCDMA. Flickering between 3G and H is normal and expected.

Your speed problem is not related to H but more likely just bad coverage.
