Hi - I've never been keen on OS upgrades (rather do a fresh install) but thought I'd give it a try with my Asus R2H. Vista upgrade finally arrived from Moduslink and I followed all the instructions, grabbed latest drivers from Asus and ploughed ahead.
Everything is working OK except DNS. I can ping ip addresses ok, but a ping to eg www.google.co.nz returns: Ping request could not find host www.google.co.nz
I found an article on turning off autotuning (netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled) but no difference.
Any ideas before I blow it away and start from fresh? Cheers, matt...
Edit: just noticed it won't pick up a dhcp address either, have to manually assign ip to get any connectivity so it's all looking a bit pear shaped.
that netsh command is for disabling/enabling the TCP sliding window auto-tuning option, don't think that would help your DNS issue. what happens if you manually set a DNS server? (other than your router's inbuilt DNS proxy)
Tried setting isp's (clear.net) dns 1 & 2 manually, but still no joy. Will try a reboot with those set..... (BTW, other xp machines connected to the same adsl router are still working ok)
