Hey I need to edit a PDF file, remove a few pages etc I used to use adobe acrobat pro but dont have it anymore.

Does anyone have any recommendations. Basically i need to removed some pages and add a few bits of text.

Let me know what the best tool is to use.. I tried an online one but had a lot of problems removing pages etc.

Any help appreciated.

I may end up just buying acrobat pro but its a one off job so a bit of a waste im my opinion.

I use cute PDF to create PDF's, works like a printer engine, so you could just choose what pages you want and 'print' (create PDF). You don't say what "etc..." is so it may not do whatever else you are looking for

I've found a few websites by Google before that can split and join PDFs when I haven't had a mac around (Preview > *), but obviously don't do that for anything sensitive.

there is a free trial of creative cloud available, so you could just use that to do it and then uninstall it.

Print to PDF in Windows or Save as PDF in Chrome only the pages you need might work? Pretty sure you can add text using the latest Adobe Reader these days too (unless the PDF is locked for editing).

Won't work for directly manipulating layers / flattening a document though. So don't use it for any important redactions 😃

Apache PDFBox is an opensource toolkit, including some command-line tools to split and merge PDFs. Or you could write some Java to do the etc.
