I have a very small window of opportunity before Microsoft NZ Ignite keynote to chat with Joe Belfiore, Corp VP PC, Tablet and Phones. Any special questions - and being realistic here, not specific complains but directions, strategy, etc.

My question would be: Currently TH2 is being released as new builds to Windows Insiders. When it is finalised will it be a full build upgrade like like the current Windows 7/8 to 10 experience or more like a service pack installation of old?

Probably won't get an answer but it will be nice if you can try :)

i'm expecting it to be a full build upgrade type of experience based on the way the insider program worked, but not 100% sure.  I did daily builds like this for a while - they took ~ an hour each time

Anyone had the start menu play up, where you cant type (like search) into it anymore.

Mines been doing it all day, I haven't rebooted yet, and that might fix it, but wondering if anyone else had this...

I am guessing you are right, purely on the basis of why would you release it to insiders differently to how you will roll it out to the rest of the consumers. It would be nice to get a definite answer though :)

I had that for awhile and then it fixed itself. I have no idea what caused it or what fixed it.

Yep, so far I think I have managed to hit every bug or problem that everyone else has had! Lucky me.

I do too, though right click run is something I am getting used to and Windows R.

Try this perhaps:

I tried that, and for some reason it didn't work.

Also win+R isn't always an option, I have windows 10 on my tablet, and i am not always using hard keys. I don't mind the shortcut at all, but I'd rather have the click option right there.

I might even install classic start. Even though I'd like to keep the tiles. I sort of want something in between win7 and win10 start menu wise. The win10 start menu is slightly stripped down for my liking. No app submenus etc.

I wonder is there anything like that, something that can modify the win10 start menu, but not radically? like a slight customization. If it existed, it could also modify the toggles in the action center, and change the 'skin' look. That would be AWESOME.

Start10 isn't a bad option.

StartIsBack is even better (and cheaper).

That looks good actually, just what I am after, provides a modified Windows 10 style start.

Pity it can't add toggles to the action center, but otherwise its perfect. Cheers!

StartIsBack can toggle to the Windows 10 Start screen (optional feature).

The Q4 2015 update will be a full in-place upgrade (OS swap).

Future updates will switch to a more servicing-oriented approach.

You will be able to go directly from Windows 7/8/8.1 to the Q4 2015 or other future upgrades using a single in-place upgrade (same ~3GB size).

Thank you for the clarification, Sir :) This explains a things that I have been hearing on Windows Weekly from Paul Thurrott and co.

Gues MF won't need to ask my question any more.
