CYaBro:mattwnz:Axeman480:coffeebaron: Once you've done the upgrade, is there a way to find your Windows 10 product key? E.G. if you wanted later to do a full offline reinstall, or your hardware changed so it couldn't match to your key stored in the cloud?
I used https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ to grab my key from win10 install
I found that by skipping entering in the key on the full clean install (after I had previously done an win 10 upgrade), it automatcailly fills it in when you go to the settings, and activates.
Yea you don't need the key at all.
I tested it on one of our laptops here.
Did the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro then grabbed a copy of the key with Produkey just in case.
Then I did a full fresh install, wiping the HDD in the process, and during the setup/installation it did prompt me to enter in a key but there is the option to Skip which I did. It prompted again during the first start wizard after the installation but again I just skipped it.
Once I was in Windows 10 again checked the System properties and it was activated. Checked with Produkey and it has the same key as before.
yes this is expected. We store your key away so you can reinstall like this seamlessly in the future :)
