On windows 10, I went to check what speed the ethernet connection was by the usual right clicking on the connection and clicking status, when i did this nothing happened.

When I right click it and press properties it says an unexpected error occurred

Has anyone else experienced this?

Go into Device Manager and Uninstall the network card (making sure not to  tell it to delete the drivers). Then click 'Scan for hardware changes' and the card shop pop back in and all should be well.
