Right, that's the clickbait out of the way.

I've tried no less than 6 SFTP programs on windows to try and give access to a large directory structure of RAW files to a friend so he can grab and edit a bunch of files I'll never get around to editing, and it's been the most frustrating 60 minutes I've spent on a computer in the last decade.

I know how FTP works, I know how FTPS and SFTP work. My friend has a Mac and is using Fetch. Cerberus worked once for a while before they changed it so that the free version wouldn't work with SFTP any longer. I've tried Bitvise,  zFTP, Filezilla and a couple of others. They all suck.

So... I have consigned FTP and SFTP to the annals of history, better forgotten than ever dragged up again.

I AM NOT LOOKING FOR HELP GETTING FTP OR SFTP WORKING. IT'S DEAD TO ME.

However, I'm really open to any windows freeware I could use to help share a bunch of files and directories with a Mac user through a browser. I'm thinking locally hosted dropbox type thing, but I would need to grant read only access to several directories on a few disks. Windows 10.

Suggestions please.. Honestly I haven't searched because I feel mentally drained after trying to make SFTP work for so long. (I think many of the issues are Fetch incompatibilities but that was the other end of the phone)

Cheers -N

macuser:

sounds like you need a bit of help getting ftp set up?

Nah, I've even sacrificed the requisite chicken... Still no go.
