I have Mint 18.3 & Windows 10 pro installed on my Dell 17" laptop with an intel core i7 8th generation CPU, everything is good, but there is one puzzlement.

 

If I use a USB stick on Linux, and then use the same stick on Windows, I get a notification that I should scan the USB stick. If I scan it no faults are found.

 

Does anyone have an idea why Windows is behaving like this?

I think I may have the answer.

 

I have most of my software on a 32GB Lexar USB 3 stick. I copied all the files, then I made a new partition table, & formatted it NTFS instead of the standard Fat32.

 

Replaced the files, all done in Linux Mint. I then tested it in Windows 10 & Windows 7. No notifications!!
