Hello

I am not sure whether this should be posted here or in another topic - apologies if I am wrong.

Newbie to opensource software here. I read reviews that Scribus might be the software that I was looking for (a lowcost/free alternative to Indesign). I downloaded the file and dragged it to my applications folder but I can not open the program.

Details
I have an Intel Mac running OSX 10.4 (tiger)
I downloaded Scribus 1.4.0.rc5_tiger_intel.dmg

When I click to open the program it appears briefly in the Dock and then disappears - It will not open.  Any suggestions regarding what I should do?

I do have Crossover - Should I download the windows version and try opening it with Crossover.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I do believe you have posted in the Linux section, instead of the Mac OS section.

Support a locally made Linux based Operating System, try Linux Lite.

I find it odd that you are running tiger if you have an intel Mac, snow leopard is very cheap, and lion is cheap too. You probably need to install dev tools, Xcode and x11 based on the quick read I just had of the scribus site. You might also try using inkscape it is quite easy to use.
