Does anyone have personal experience of shipping a small amount of personal effects to Europe? My son will be studying over there and I am guessing that the airline baggage allowance won't cut it for what I know he will want to take. My guess he will want to take another 20-30kgs of stuff, or maybe 1 cubic metre max of additional stuff. Any recommendations for firms that deal with such small amounts? Thanks.

Recently used Seven Seas Worldwide shipping from Europe back to NZ. We were a bit worried using an unknown company but can provide nothing but praise - door to door (including packaging), very good systems and they clear customs for you (at a cost). Recommended. http://www.sevenseasworldwide.com/

Emirates will do you 30Kg, and if you get the right ticket with Malaysian then you should be good to go as well with that limit. I have to say, 30Kg is a fair amont of stuff but everyone will have their own opinions. Remeber to wear the tramping boots and take that big winter jacket on board with you for starters. Check the hand baggage rules as you can get a slim laptop case plus a carry on bag on the right carrier.

If you want to get sports equipment over there, it might be worth getting a Virgin Atlantic booked ticket. They seem to have some generous (compared to others) allowances for bikes trusty steeds and the like but it looks like they would not take my sea kayak as its longer than 3M.

Thanks natedog. I checked out this site and the good thing is I could get a quote on-line so now I have something to work with in terms of options.
