I wish to formally apologize to those offended by my comment on this thread HERE

Sorry it took so long, but reading back I felt really bad about it and wanted to say sorry.

I'm glad people have been forgiving of stuff I've regretted saying so far over my lifetime. We all do it!

Haha you're the last person on GZ who needs to apologize.
But good on you.
But don't lose any sleep over it.
Take care.

I sometimes regret or agonise over rash, silly or immature (for a 64-year-old) stuff I say here - but not saying that any of your posts were like that. I think it's a sign of a basically decent and caring person if they feel like that.

Often other people don't see things the way we fear that they do - and if they do, they soon forget and don't hold a grudge about it. None of what we say here is important in the final analysis and as a community we're all mates anyway.

Now I'm wondering whether I should have posted this ....  smile

Yes, most of us have reacted too soon and too strong. Then, on another unrelated thread we convo nicely and positively with someone that we angsted or got angsted by. It happens

 Wow that's a whole thread I'm glad I missed.

My daughter is 8 and is in a class that heavily uses Chromebooks, 80% or so of the class own their own devices.  This is the education system in NZ, so it's a bit of an uninformed generalisation to say they shouldn't have their own until they're 13+.  I get where you are coming from though, the internet is a big world full of nice to not so nice, but generally calling someone a bad parent is likely to be hurtful to them.

I appreciate your apology though.  Honestly I think Geekzone is really cool like that.  There are so many good people here, willing to help and share their opinions.  I'm glad we all get along as much as we do.

Many of us have been there. Geekzone is a unique environment that encourages the exchange of information, ideas and opinions. When opinions are the focus, those exchanges can sometimes grow heated, or things may get said that convey unintended meanings. Fortunately this is a fairly forgiving community, especially when someone says they are sorry.

Ha, no need to apologise. I think people need to grow thicker skins myself .

I must be the worst parent in the world, my kids love their devices haha.   In fact, my daughter is home sick and on one right now!!

So there :)  Although, she just earned two distinctions and a credit in ICAS so I'm not too worried.

[edit] if you want to see bad parenting, give your kids 'musically' !!!!!! seriously stupid application.

It seems to me the two topics practically guaranteed to turn feral are parenting and cyclists.

There are others , such as gay marriage, David Bain, Pike River , and whether Lost was a bad tv series.
